^ guilty as charged when it comes to bad boys too, no worries. I didn't like last week's epi much... the "i love u" fell really flat...the only saving grace was Stefan without a shirt (lol) and the ending seriously creeped me out.

ABSOLUTELY loved the season finale! I'm so going to get the DVD! As a matter of fact, I bought books 5 & 6 of this series (along WITH CHEAT THE GRAVE) today!

Oh yes. I've missed a few episodes along the way so I can't wait for the DVDs to come out so I can watch them all in order.
Stupid me, I didn't know it was the season finale when I was watching it.
But I was like, "OH CRAP!" When I thought Elena kissed Damon. I was soooooo mad at her. Heh. Katherine. I sure hope this doesn't crap all over Stefan. But Katherine chopped that dude's fingers off it was like, DAAAAAAAAMN! Hell yeah.
But awww, I feel bad for Damon. He loves Elena and he's going to get hurt. He better jack up that bitch, Katherine.

I have to add the writers have a knack of giving Damon the best smart ass lines =)

^Hell yeah. Damon *IS* that show. I loved him in the books too, though. I remember once, Elena was teetering on the edge of a rooftop he said something like, "If you want death, I can show you much more pleasureable ways to meet it." (I'm totally paraphrasing.) But I LOVED it. Love those Salvatore boys. Heh. My kittehs are named Damon and Stefan. But technically, it wasn't my idea.

Which is such a shame because I did enjoy the books growing up. Even read them several months ago and enjoyed them again. This show could have been better. The basically turned it into Twilight, the asshats. They took Elena and made her a brooding brunette, melded Bonnie and Meredith is some jacked up scientic experiment and made her one person, turned Elena's poor little sister into a drug addicted boy, ripped the Salvatore brothers out of Renaissance Italy...shit...did I miss anything??

Katherine is in it already?? I didn't think she showed up until the second or third book. Damn.

No, you did pretty good. I guess it would've been too expensive to fly to or recreate Renaissance Italy.

She only appeared in the last 5 minutes of the season finale...a prelude to season two, which should equate to book two most likely...haven't read any of the books, but I'm now tempted...

People who read them at an advanced age (meaning older than thirteen, lol) don't always like them. I love them because I first read them in elementary school/middle school when they first came out. I can sit down and re-read them over and over and over. I'm not sure I'd like them as much if I'd just discovered them.
Does that make sense?

^I'm the same way Jackie. I read them when I was a teen and re-read them several times, along with their sister series, The Secret Circle. LOVED THEM. My sister and I worshipped these books throughout our teens and into adulthood. If you read these and then Twitlight, you think Stephenie Meyer totally ripped them off.
DL, they're very simple and for teens. She crushes on a boy and they never get past first base. I'd suggest not going past the original first series. I haven't liked the newer books, where the author revisits the world she originally created in the 90's. It just doesn't work. You can't go back and give these kids cell phones when they didn't have them before. It's like a time warp and it sucks. I actually didn't like alot of stuff that was done in "Dark Reunion" the original supposed ending of the series back in the day. It seemed as if it was supposed to be a trilogy and maybe she got a lot of backlash and wrote "Dark Reunion" to fix things that people didn't like. You can't undo shit like that. But that's just me.
The ones labelled "Vampire Diaries: The Return" and something after that are the newer ones and aren't as great, IMO. The originals, the ones written and originally published in the 90's are the good ones. "The Secret Circle" series is worth looking into as well.
I still love them, but it may be me reliving my youth, rather than appreciating good literature. Ya dig?

Yes! The Secret Circle! I only read the first one in that series. I agree, the "new" Vampire Diaries just don't do it for me. After all the work Damon did becoming a "good" guy, she tore him apart and tried to make him evil again. Not appreciated. I always liked him more than Stefan.
Dark Reunion wasn't too bad, and I probably would have freaked out if the series ended that way. I needed some sort of happy ending!

Well i am a sucker i have shadow souls on my TBR pile.. DL - i Read them last year after watching the first ep of VD, they are meant for a younger crowed but still a good read and it does seem like Stephanie Meyer helped herself to the story... Replace Elena with Bella, Stefan with edward and Jacob with Damon (except Jacob is a pussy compared to Damon) and you have a rip off. But personally i am glad i read Twilight before theses otherwise i would not have been able to get through the series without cracking the shits big time, and not appreciated VD as much as i do now... (sill feels bad for LJ smith)
