There are worse things than drath that Regan can experience. Death is too good for her.

But her continued existence puts Jo's life in danger. More importantly, it puts Ashlyn in danger. Chop her up! ;D

That's not a bad thing. Danger and dealing with it keeps the story exciting. If everything was all hunkey dorey, it could end up quite boring. Then maybe not for you guys, there could be more page time for Hunter.

Eh. Something just strikes me as wrong about anyone trying to hurt Ashlyn at the age she is now. Let her live a semi-mild human life at least until her second life cycle. If Vicki tries to hurt her before that, I think a lot of her readers would quit with the books. There's a reason why most fantasy authors don't go the route of violence with young children.

But the bad guys always gotta use that as a threat to get under the skin of the good guys.

I wouldn't quit Vicki's books if the Kidlet gets slapped or maimed etc because its a part of life. No author should be uncomfortable in writing a bout a truth. So if the Kidlet because collateral damage then yeah shock horror etc but if it serves the story then go for it.. I say ... thought not the biggest kidlet fan in the world... ;P
and wouldn't it be like blow your world bad if Warren did it or Jo or Ben by accident or even Hunter ...ewwwww the Shadow Hunter.....lmao meh meh NEVER!

^ Didn't you get your fill of kiddie violence when Li got ripped up? Sheesh, you'd almost think you wanted Ashlyn to come to harm. Jo may have started that way, but she'll do her damndest to make sure it doesn't happen with Ashlyn. Hell hath NO fury like a mother spurned. Hint: Jo's mom.
And that storyline has already set itself as a backdrop for the majority of Jo's early life. I'd like to see something different happen with Ashlyn. There is a nagging question that's been bothering me about her- if Ben doesn't remember Jo, can't Regan insinuate herself as Ashlyn's mom? Even if he doesn't remember either of them?

Lol! Kay just likes chaos and destruction Pyrelight, it's in her demon ways!
Hmmm...well Ashlyn is 15yrs old, how would Regan try to say that she was her mom? He was only with Jo when he was 15...and im sure after they broke up he waited a while before getting back into the dating game... But then again, Regan's a conniving biatch so she might be able to pull off an impossible feat like that...

The issue I have with this is that when they erased Ben's memories of Jo, they took out Regan completely as well. Due to the brainwashing, Ben won't remember either of them at all- not at 15, or any other age. And Regan now looks far more like Ashlynn than Olivia does. Unless they only erased his memory so far and then stopped- Vicki didn't explain much either way. Not that I'm complaining.

Totally agree Pyre! We don't really have a lot of details on the brainwashing! Can't wait to find out though! ;D

A quick note (but I'm enjoying this):
Ashlyn is only 10...not yet in her second life cycle, which onsets w/puberty.
Regan looks like angel hair pasta right now...not anybody's idea of a mother. She can't heal from the injuries, remember?
There. As you were. ;-)

Interesting. Regan can't heal from the injuries inflicted? She was able to work some serious magic with the complexion powder she used to spy on Jo. Does that mean she already met her demise?
