That's a great idea, Vicki! Obviously, you need to do whatever works best, but if Jo ever gives you a break, and Ashlyn pops up and says, "Hi, I'm here!" you'd certainly have folks happy to dive into her story. Thanks, Aleta (and Rose), The idea definitely stirred my interest, but Ash's world would need to be as carefully considered as Jo's and I'm already feeling schitzo. {g} We'll see in time. YAs may be shorter, but done well they're no less difficult.

I would think that initially, a YA would be harder to write if done right. It seems like it would be more of a challenge to create and write for younger people and keep it real enough without sounding like a bad SNL sketch or Leave it to Beaver.

Vamp: It's not too hard if your brain is somehow stuck at the age of 14 or 15, like me.

The true answer is this: There will definitely be six books. I'm going to push Joanna as hard and fast as I can in those six books, and see exactly how much she can take. If there's more story left, I'll write that, but I'm not going to dilute the series or drag it out. She's done when she either 1) can't take any more, 2) dies, or 3) wins. Come on!!!! Don't you feel the least bit sorry for Joanne, don't you want to see her have just a little bit of happiness? It just seems like everytime there's even a chance that Jo might not be miserable for the rest of her life, the rug is yanked out from under her again, and she ends up even more miserable than she was before. So my question is do you have anything "good" planned for Jo to balance out all the bad she has to face down the road?

Will we see Joanne's mother in The Touch of Twilight or her daughter?

She can't answer those question until the book is officially released on the market.

Yes I do... *has a tendency to read the last page of the book when shes 3 quarters done with the book* I'm not very patient. But I think I can and will wait until I actually have the book in hand.

So my question is do you have anything "good" planned for Jo to balance out all the bad she has to face down the road? Of course I feel for her! I have given her quieter moments, but try to keep in mind two things: 1) Not everyone else wants her to have a life, much less happiness in it. I like her - obviously, because I created such a strong character - but I had to then create villains equally strong; ie. worthy of her. They're not going to stop coming at her, so she's can't stop either. 2) Look at where she started out. The first three books all take place within the first year of her acceptance into the Zodiac. TBH, I didn't think she was truly living before that. Existing, sure. But not living. So any happiness she finds, well...it's something she has to seek out, and yes, fight for, herself. So the answer is yes. She's going to unearth degrees of happiness in different areas of her life. But because of who she is, she's going to have to fight for them all. (Then again, don't we all? )
