I went to see Mamma Mia this afternoon and had the most fun I have had at a movie in recent memory. Definitely a chick flick, but as I am a chick, I am okay with that. It was glorious to see three 50-something gals strut their stuff and three 50-something guys chase them. (Okay, so Colin Firth is only 47.) The Greek island setting didn't hurt, either. And ABBA music may not be the epiphany of musical genius but it is very catchy. I feel happy and feminine and want to catch the next boat to the Mediterranean Sea. Sigh.

I have seen the trailers for this and I realize it's a girlie girl movie but it does look like a fun one. I need stuff like this so the darkness doesn't over come me.

It was huge fun! And not once did someone have to save the world or run from a huge explosion or dress up in an odd superhero costume....well, actually, there were odd costumes....but still fun!

No explosions? I may have to rethink this...they sure picked a bad week to release in. Going up against the Dark Knight could be a very bad move.

Do they know what they're going up against when they choose though? And honestly, alot of people that want to see "Mamma Mia" aren't the "Dark Knight" type. Or... are choosing to wait out the big Batman crowds and instead see a movie where they won't be standing in lines.
Skitty, does she find out who her father is? Who are the three 50-something women? Besides the mother (Meryl Streep), I didn't know there were any other older women, I just remember seeing the daughter and mother on the commercial, and then the three potential fathers. (Put any movie spoilers in the spoiler tags, please.)

The other two women are Christine Baranski and Julie Walters (aka Mrs. Weasley) who play Meryl Streep's friends. The daughter has two friends too but they aren't in it much. And are you sure you want to know if she finds out who her father is?? No, she doesn't.

While on vacation I saw both Hellboy and Dark Night.
Hellboy 2: it was a good movie.. I was a bit disappointed. It just seemed to be a bit rushed. I wish they would have drawn more on the battle between man and the others. They could have focused a bit more on the elfs. They new guy felted like it was forced into the story line. Like it was just a last minute thought. Selma Blair and Ron's chemistry wasn't there are much as I would like. They felt too disconnected to me. I liked the graphics.. Way cool. I love Del Toro.. But I agree with my fiance. He's in his place when he does more dark films.
Dark Night: GREAT. Best movie of the year. It was a good as it was built up to be.. I honestly don't think Ledgers death effected they audience's opinion of his performance. Though I do think it helped the viewings and the profits. I say this jokingly "I think his death was a publicity stunt to make more people go see the movie." But in reality. It is sad that he is no longer with us. I could have been the best actor of his generation.

So you say you're in the mood for a heart-warming, tongue-in-cheek movie about a boy and his zombie? Then "Fido" is the movie for you! Keep an eye out for the homage to Lassie!

I am going to see if Netflix has that one. It''s my kind od movie.
Not only did they have Fido, it's in their instant viewing section to. I really loved the way it was filmed. It was a lot of fun to watch.
If you have Netflix check it out.

Saw X-Files last night. Good movie.. Though it was like a long episode. Not a lot of movies that were originally a TV series don't do it well.
Firefly's Serenity did it well. I think it was good because the movie they wrapped up the whole series in a nut shell in one big movie. SITC did good too. They also wrapped up the series in the beginning and wrapped it up in the end.
Simpsons was another long episode.
XFiles they shouldn't have stuck to what was good in the series: Aliens, Scully's baby, and Fox's sister. If the plot was around one of those, it could have been a lot better. Other than that it was a good movie.
BTW: There is a scene after the credits but it isn't important. It was like they added it as a second thought. It wasn't really valuable.

It's really my kind of zombie movie In a way it reminded me of Cast A Deadly Spell, which is one of my all time favorites. It's set during the same era and has the same feel to it. It's pretty old and might be hard to find though.

0....Great now whe nI get home, I'll have to look that one up. Fido sort of remined me of "Pushing Daisies" because of the way it was filmed with all of the over the top bright colors. It also reminds me of the way they made the Fallout series of computer games. They use a similar type of narration at the begining of the game and similar '40's style music.
