I thought instead having just a bunch of threads with different movies, we could have one thread of the movies we recently seen and review them.
The Ruins: Great suspenseful. If you liked the movie; The Cave you'll love this one
Forbidden Kingdom: Family movie. Thought there could have been more action. But it is a good movie to go take the family too.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: FUNNY as hell. Not a movie to go take the kids too with all the penis and boobage. But cute. It's like a funny chick flick
Harold and Kumar 2: If you liked the 1st one then you'll love the 2nd one. EXTREMELY funny if you find pot heads and ob seen behavior funny. I thought it was funnier than the first one.
Doomsday: Good action. Needs more plot. But good action.
21: Good movie. I'm a math wise so of course I loved it. If you liked movies like Ocean's 11 and plus, Maverick, and just card games movies then you'll like this one. No real nudity but some violence.
I think that's it for now for what I've seen. What have you seen?

Very Impressive! You are obviously a movie mouse! I haven't seen anything since going to the Cleveland Film Festival in March (where I saw 36 movies in 9 days, mostly foreign, docs and indies). Really looking forward to Ironman and the new Raiders movie in May.

My fiance was a film student and now a camera guy so we go see a lot of movies to help his hobby/career choice.

I only go for the early shows. It's just $5.00 then. What's cool about here is there is a two screen drive in that's not too far away.
Usually on one screen they have family shows like Nim's Island. On the other they have the PG-13 and R stuff. They will show what ever is current at the time and it's cheaper than the 'walk in". Best part is you can bring your own food and drinks. I've even seen people set up BBQ's.

Ok, not a recent movie, but deathlynx's post about Lovecraft over in other authors reminded me. Cast a Deadly Spell - I love this movie! Kinda campy and fun. If you can find it, I think it's a must see! Here's the Wiki entry: Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) is a Horror/Detective HBO movie with Fred Ward, Julianne Moore and Clancy Brown. Ward stars as 1940's hardboiled private detective Phillip Lovecraft, in fictional universe in which magic is real, monsters and mythical beasts stalk the back alleys, zombies are used as cheap labor, and everyone -- except Lovecraft -- uses magic every day. Yet, cars, telephones and other modern technology also exist in this world.
The movie is very much an homage to the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Though not based on any one particular story by Lovecraft, the film features many Lovecraftian tropes, and can be considered to take place against the unified backdrop which has come to be known as the Cthulhu Mythos. Frequent references are made to the Necronomicon, the Old Ones, and Yog Sothoth throughout the film.
There are also references to other authors in the genre. One of the police detectives is named Bradbury. The nightclub is called Harry Bordon's Dunwich Room.

Ironman (should have added it a few days ago): Very fun move. Though I wouldn't take the kids to go see it. Has some sex and violence in it if you're the type of good parent who doesn't send their kids to that sort of stuff. Very patriotic!

Thanks for the thread.
IRONMAN: If you liked Transformers, you'll like this. A bit more realisim..and I mean a BIT, mostly in the themes. No language to worry about, the sexual content is a bit light and comedic. The violence is a might intense for younger viewers. Our boys are 71/2 and 9 and Transformers was OK for them, but we thought Ironman might be just over the edge for them.
SPEEDRACER: My opinion...if you can manage...*looks around cautiously* go stoned. That's all I'm going to say on that.
Favorite chick flick of all time so far..."Sliding Doors".

lol...Been there, done that...though more often it was watching in the privacy of my own home/dorm/appartment...I'm really nervouse about speed racer honestly...putting it futuristic and flashy doesn't seem like it would go well with the original...after all, the show is fairly monochromatic...

Favorite chick flick of all time so far..."Sliding Doors". Love Sliding Doors!!! Don't think I am in the Speed Racer demographic. Doesn't appeal. I am looking forward to the new Indiana Jones!
