Hey All,
It was talked about often over on the blog etc so I am taking it upon myself to open the Virtual Peppermill for all to share their favorite cocktail recipes, stories of late nights, tales of Vegas and anything that might be served up in our beloved Peppermill. It's a bit of a self serve bar but all your favorite seats are open. I'm going to park it near the fire and sip on my first cocktail...
The Lemon Drop Martini
Shaken over ice. 1 shot vodka 1shot contreau 1shot 7up 1/2 shot sweet & sour
Rim a martini glass in lemon and dip it in superfine sugar. Pour in chilled martini and enjoy.
I'll be here keeping an eye out for Warren and the gang. I expect them just before dawn. ;D

One of the many things I know nothing about out side of Dr, Pepper or unsweat tea.

And I love Lemon Drops, though I've never made them in my own home. This will change that! Okay, I'll wander into the fray with a traditional martini recipe ... minus the traditional. I'm a vodka girl (snobby about it, too - Belvedere only): 1 1/2 oz vodka 1/2 oz vermouth splash of olive brine if you're feeling dirty Shaken Straight up Two olives...blue cheese stuffed, if you're looking for a meal. Warren and Co. would approve!

I have a taste tonight for a Caramel Appletini.
1 shot Vodka (sorry Vic, I like Grey Goose) 1 shot DeKuyper's ButterShots liqueur 1 shot Dekuyper's Sour Apple liqueur
Shake over ice and quickly strain into a martini glass. Float a thin slice of Granny Smith Apple if you want to impress, if you want to do some serious drinking, skip the apple slice. At Christmas, I threw in a couple of maraschino cherries...it looked festive and didn't seriously harm the liquor content.

Excellent Debim! I've had 'Appletinis" before but the 'caramel' version rocked..a bit sweet...but a great desert. Vampyre...we're pouring whatever your drinkin' In keeping with the Vodka theme, here is one I created myself, though I'm sure it actually exists somewhere. I call it the Marstini because it tastes just like a Mars bar...again, a bit sweet, but fun. Equal parts Coconut Vodka and Creme de' Coco white (the clear one) Shaken with ice and served up. Looks like a Martini but tastes like candy. heehee

I've posted this before but I've tweaked it so here is my margarita recipe....
1 shot Jose Cuervo Tradicional 1 shot Cointreau 4 oz. Simply Limeade juice 1-2 oz. orange juice (I prefer Tropicana) lime slice
In a cocktail shaker, combine Jose Cuervo Tradicional, Cointreau, Simply Limeade juice, orange juice and ice.
Shake vigorously and strain drink into a salt-rimmed glass filled with ice. Squeeze lime slice on top and enjoy!
The Quick and the Stirred version: Combine ingredients in a margarita glass add ice, give a stir, queeze lime slice on top and enjoy!

YummY! Thanks destructogirl! I adjusted this a bit to create a chaser. Mix the Limeade and the OJ in a chaser size glass, then take shot of Tequila, down the chaser and a bite of lime...quite nice.

I'll have to give the chaser and tequila a try when I'm trying to get goofy real fast. Now for my next trick I'm going to attempt a true Mint Julep during the Derby, since I'm a Kentucky girl who's never been to the big day.... 2 cups sugar 2 cups water Sprigs of fresh mint Crushed ice Early Times Kentucky Whiskey Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whiskey. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Do we have a fireplace in here? How cool! A girl could get herself in trouble around here with such a warm, cozy atmosphere....
I'll be sure to let you know how my Juleps turn out. Anything with very little liquid and lots of ice just never seems to turn out right for this pretend bartender.

Yes there is a fireplace. And here it is. I sit where I can keep an eye on the door.

How about something non-alcoholic?
I like to dress up seltzer with a few dashes of both Peychaud's and Angostura bitters, sometimes with a bit of fresh lemon, sometimes without. Lots of ice is also key.
It's really refreshing, and not sweet.

Man, now I really need to make a run to the liquor store, or the 'Class VI', as my former military husband still insists on calling it.
