*bows to* Freaking awesome!! He was the author who inspired me into the darker stuff. *evil grin* I LOVE his work.
I have a leather copy of his complete works and it even has a gold inlay. Its like my bible. XD
My sixth grade teacher would read the stories to my class once a week towards the end of the year and I fell in love with his stuff.

I own like this Big Black book of Allen short stories like the black cat. I love it.
I was introduced to him in the 7th grade by my teaching reading us the Tell Tell Heart. We had to write a short story about what happened afterwards. I wrote that he went to prison and ended up with an obsession with his roommates tongue!

Rogue, you should check out Voltaire's song Lenore and The Alan Parsons Project has an entire album called Tales of Mystery and Imagination, every song on the album is inspired by a Poe story.

EAP was a master! One of my favorites is The Raven
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. "'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door — Only this, and nothing more."
I also liked the story The Fall of the House of Usher.

I have to admit, aside from The Raven I've never read anything by him...Kind of a surprise because I really like Lovecraft and Poe was his most significant influence...

Well, somewhere kicking around I actually have the big book of Poe...there's a novel referrenced in Lovecraft that I really want to read but the only way to get it these days is in that book...I just haven't gotten a chance, and now I can't find the book

Me too, and to make matters worse we had to do a massive housecleaning to make sure everything was ready for the baby...so things got shoved in random boxes...I tried to rescue all of the books to get put in one room, but I might have missed some

And let's not forget all those great movie versions with Vincent Price! The first horror movie I ever saw was 'The Pit and the Pendulum'. I was 8 years old and watched it through my fingers, but I've been hooked on horror ever since.
