She has a writing clubhouse? Dang. I wasn't told about the clubhouse. Do you need a secret password to enter? I went to a Dark and Stormy Knights signing and was hoping you'd magically appear, but alas, I was stuck with Jim Butcher, lol. His sister, Julie, is made of awesome. Seriously. We went out for Mongolian afterward and I got to see her writing clubhouse. I'm a bit jealousy because my only builder is about 2.5 feet tall. Not quite big enough to build me a clubhouse yet. : )

Oh yeah, it will be...of and we got our little Hunter into a part-time day care...Not so much because we need someone to watch him, more because this way he doesn't think it's about the new baby...well, and so he gets a chance to play with other kids!

What no cupcakes for you yet!? Congrats Vicki, all your extra hard work has paid off! Can't wait to read the results....! As for what's going on...my little bit has been back to school for 5 weeks and my fitness revival has recommenced. I had lots of running around and swimming with her but it was inconsistent, so now I'm on a regular routine and I've managed my goal, lose a pound a week! Other than that, nothing super exciting going on, just a good-n-healthy life. Yeah, only one margarita in the last 5 weeks, believe it!

I do agree with everyone that says Vickie's writing is getting better. It has gone from good to great. I've like each book better than the last one. I'm really excited about the shrimp thing. I keep saying it's a 100 miles but it isn't, it's only 59 miles. It looks like a very easy route so I'll end up in Fl or something.

Well, we have a condo in FL so there is room for you to bunk in. ;D

I can't believe I haven't been to a chat yet. It's just been so crazy here this summer. I swear, the teen drama is just killing me. Of course I'm the "cool & supportive" mom so I don't just get to experience MY teen's drama, but all of their friends too. I am serious. I WILL stop by one Sunday at some point though--
Vicki-- I SO agree that with each book your writing is better-- even though it's hard for me to say that because I really loved them all-- I think your writing seems more relaxed-- as if you are getting very comfortable with it. That might not make sense, but I mean it as a good thing:)
Wow, you all hang out with such cool peeps. I'm not trying to be a bitch-- but we have so many Christian publishers in our area of Michigan, and SO many churches--that we tend to get very mainstream writers that don't talk of anything that could remotely be considered paranormal or occult. I could go on and on and on about my experiences with the holy roller types in my "searching for the meaning of life" days, but I won't drag you all down with it. LOL Let's just say I am truly a magnet for people with beliefs they don't want challenged. I think I need to adapt a goth look and attitude so they will just stay clear of me:)
Congrats on the coolness of the book Vicki:)

Thanks, all of you, on the compliments re. getting better. It's not an insult at all. I *want* to get better. CHEAT is the only book I've been able to go back and read and say, "Boy, I really like that." But THE NEON GRAVEYARD is the first book I've turned into my editor that got a, "You nailed it." No revision letter, either (in the past I've had six page, single-spaced letters - she really *edits* and is a gem of an editor (if a taskmaster)). Just an email with detailed points, which I'm addressing now (for the next couple of weeks).*
moonsanity - maybe you look too innocent. Dirty yourself up a bit. LOL
Destructo - I'm working out hard again too, after pushing hard on deadline. No excuse now. So thanks for the cupcake ... but I'm so glad it's virtual!
Back in writer mode now - I'm so excited to put some bows and bells on this book.
Oh! And so sorry to have missed chat last night. I wanted to make it but had a pretty crummy day, and was trying everything to pull myself out of it. And that's the truth, Ruth.
BTW, for any newbies reading these posts - I realize they are colloquial and run-on and possibly over-punctuated -- this is where I let my hair down and hang with friends. So I encourage you to jump in and do the same. Vampyre's fangs are mostly retracted ... ;-)
Oh, geez! I almost forgot! I posted the reader pictures - with our very own Theresa - on my site's gallery page. I love it! Go peeksie!

Dirty up a bit-- I'm pretty sure my husband has said the same thing, but in other words. BAHAHAHAHAHA The couple that lives near us-- we are out in the country but we are close enough to see each other-- is Baptist--both Sunday school teachers- I'm always afraid I'm going to scare them. I want to put an herb garden in the part of the yard that is near them-- with Celtic symbols-- maybe a small labrynth. I'm sure they will love that. LOL
I can't wait to read the "you nailed it!" book. LOL It will always be that in my mind now.

Miki - I've been on the internet for fifteen+ years now -- do you know how many effin' passwords I have? I cannot keep track of them, I swear. But I DO remember the Sanctuary one. If only because Ravie has reminded me a hundred times. LOL
Ravie - my sistah. *sheesh*
moon - Oh, I love messing with the Baptists. I'm a recovering southern Baptist myself. ;-)
I've been quiet because there's nothing going on with me, chickadees. Just rewrites, massaging the text, trying to stay cool in Dallas. I gotta tell you, it's hard to move desks. As much as I love to travel, and each of my homes, keeping all my work in a bag - not being able to sprawl for months on end - is *hard.* I'm getting used to it, but I have to be very organized. On the up side? I never get bored with my surroundings.
In other news, I devoured the HUNGER GAMES trilogy after finding it a couple of weeks ago. Tre-men-dous. Instant classics. Books I wish I'd written. I want to be Suzanne Collins when I grow up. (Oh, shit. I *am* grown up.) Anyway, read them as soon as you can if you haven't already. I learned so much from doing so - about craft and pacing and damned good storytelling - I can't wait to comb through them more critically again.
Also, loads of great books coming out today. Both Kelley Gay and Carolyn Crane have their second releases today, so that's exciting for me. I've been wanting to continue on with their worlds.
Off to run on the Katy Trail. What's going on with y'all?

Oh, Vic....I loved the Hunger Games trilogy! I hear that a movie is in the works...let's hope they do it justice since it is so well written.
I hear that you got a haircut...picture , please!
I am just laying around hatching evil plots that bode well for no one....and waiting for my retirement funds to kick in so I can go shopping!
Labor Day weekend and the game is afoot...Bristol Renaissance Faire will be invaded ... may God have mercy on their poor souls...I will be in full feed mode for their divine stewed mushrooms and a chilly dilly on a stick (Jeez, we always have to get food-on-a-stick..cuz this is WISCONSIN! it's some kind of law, I think...).
Other than that...plans do do nothing are still plans......

Yes, new 'do pics, please! ;D Deb, I wish I was Ren-Fairing with ya! My August has been weird (which I guess is normal for this house). My German daughter came back to visit for 3 weeks, which was awesome! Two of Ailish's friends from college also came to stay for 3 weeks. There was an overlap so I had 4 20 year olds in the house for a while. All in all, I loved it! LHPS (our paranormal investigation team, for those that missed my previous bazillion mentions) was asked to do an 'investigation' with a girl scout troop. A dozen 10 year olds have a hard time sitting quietly in the dark so we didn't expect much. They did ask some very intelligent questions and seem to have a good time. Maybe we planted a few seeds for LHPS:TNG. We had a client a couple of weeks later that invited us to come early so she could cook for us. It was the most awesome Thai food I've ever had, and a very cool 180 year old home. Still reviewing the evidence on that one. Finally, we were asked to speak at the Grange Fair (think county fair, but bigger). Over 100 people showed up! Some waited more than an hour. It was one of those "How did this become my life?" moments. So now, I'm looking forward to September and maybe a little breather before Halloween and the holidays.
