Well, around here it's tonight at 1...I could see the first episode at midnight, however that channel isn't showing both first and second, so I'm recording from 1-3 (well, 1-2 with the time change )...

Oh, that's kind of rough. Thank goodness for DVRs and VCRs. I really think this show is going to be exceptionally good. I have a very good feeling about it.

I do too...and yeah, I'm working so I have it on record...I'm waiting to see how they do with Zedd, I always pictured him as a little more handsom than this, even in his crazy/obsessive moods...

Just finished watching it with my brother...I haven't read the books but he has so he kept me up to date... I really enjoyed the show! Some of the acting was a little subpar...especially by the actor playing Richard..but he's a newbie so I'm guessing he'll get better... And Zedd? Guys I'm just so sorry to say but he's all kinds of UGLY....he scares me! lol And DL, my bro said the same thing as you about picturing Zedd looking better...well his exact words were "They can't write that kind of ugly!" lol

Over all I liked the show. I did find it a little distressing that they changed so many of the details. One of the major things they changed that I thought was important is the way the Sword of Truth affected Richard after he killed the first person with it. It was not good.
In the books, Richard's dad had smuggled the Book of Counted Shadows out of the Midlands years earlier with Zed's help. He then had Richard memorize the entire book in effect making him a living copy of the book.
Also, the bariers hadn't been up for 1000's of years as stated in the show. They have only been up for aabout 20 years or so. Zeb was the wiazrd that raised them in an attempt to end the war with D'Har and Panis Rahl, Darken Rahl's father.
Once satisfied Richard knew the entire book and could recall it flawlessly, they destroyed it together. Kahlynn(sp) never saw an actual copy of it.
Rahl's men never broke the barrier. Richard, Zeb and Kahlynn got through it with the help of Adie, the Bone Woman, the blind witch woman. If I remember right, she also joined them.
It's been a long time since I read the first book but it seems like Richard and Kahlynn go one way and Zeb and Adie head off to secure the wizard's tower as best they can and use it to help Richard in his quest to stop Darken Rahl.
Oh well, there is plenty of material to keep the show going for quite a while. The books cover several major regions of that world and is full of all kinds of great characters, monsters and adventures for all of the main characters.
Richard has an uncanny ability to make friends and allies with the most unlikely people and um things as the books continue. Hopefully we will see a lot of this as the show continues.

I liked it too. It is nice to have a straight fantasy on for a change. Hope it continues to be good. And having never read the books, I don't care who is ugly and how much they change. Although maybe I will get one of the books from the library and give it a spin. Looking forward to next week.

Well, I haven't seen the last half hour of the second episode due to the local station deciding to change it's schedule at the last minute...
That being said, I'm a little concerned with some of the changes (particularly the BoCS) but I'm certainly willing to let them slide depending on how they smooth it out...using the book in this way is a good foil, so long as they have him memorize the contents...
As for the barriers, I have a feeling that they're going to end up skewing heavily from the series and quite possibly wiping out the old world plot...or perhaps modding it somehow...Maybe all the barriers went up at the same time so that it's possible to take them all down and jump right into the war?
I like the way he plays Zedd, but he certainly doesn't look like what I thought...though I also admit he doesn't look as bad as he did in Matrix movies...

I looked up the show on IMBD...most of the characters (Zedd, Darken Rahl, Chase...) have all either been in Star Wars II & III or LOTR II &III or in some cases both movies. Did u guts notice that at the end of the 2nd show, at the credits, they said they used scenes from both the 1stbook and the 2nd? How many books r there in the series?

I think there are 11 books out right now. If each season would be one book, we have 11 season worth of shows but I doubt it'll last that long. I like th show so far but it's scheduling is erratic at best.

scheduling is deffinately what's going to kill this show, and it's too bad...Incidentally, the sereis of novels is now ended...Confessor is the final book...
I got my wife to watch it (grudgingly) and she fell in love with the show...

If they could get it on something like the Sci Fi channel at a regular time for all, it would do very well. On the other hand, Hercules and Xena did just fine for years as independent shows. LoS may do it to. I hope so. The story was good and the background settings were spectacular.

The thing about Herc and Xena is that they were on at something resembling a reasonable hour...they were Sat/Sun morning and afternoon timeslots...around here LoS is on at 1 AM...Either way I'd have to record it, but most people wouldn't...

Yep that sucks. i have a better time slot here. Both channels that carry it have it on at 7 pm. I'd still record it and watch it if they didn't. I am hoping it will catch on. Goodkind's books are very popular so there should be a good sized starting audience for the series.
I've net checked his forums to see how the hard core fans feel about it.

A good question...I'm not used to checking with hard core fans because they very seldom like anything The frustrating thing about the schedule around here is that I'm watching it on a Boston station...that's not a small market at all, so it's gonna be sufferring some nationally...
