I would be derelict in my duties if I didn't start a thread for my boss, Charlaine Harris. As I work for her as her continuity editor, I get to see the manuscripts quite early in the process and all the way down to the proverbial wire. I can say that, without a doubt, From Dead To Worse, the eighth in the Sookie Stackhouse series, is her best Sookie yet.
And don't forget to watch True Blood, Alan Ball's adaptation of the Sookie series, starting this fall on HBO.

No prob;em. If not for your boss, I'd not be here. I read all the Sookie books before i found Kim, then Showgirl.. I have the next book ordered(pre-ordered) I want to see the new series but i don't have HBO. I guess I'll have to watch the DVD's when they get released. Although I am a big Harris fan, I have never posted in her forum. I never posted in any authors forum or web site until Kim's. All my posting up to that point has been mostly in gaming forums or about NBC's Heroes,

I LOVE SOOKIE! I don't have HBO, but I might get it just for the series this fall. Can you keep us updated, debi? I gotta say I'm little nervous that it won't live up to the Sookie of my mind. Anyone else have that fear? I'd rather have the books than the series, to be honest.
It was Charlaine's endorsement of Vicki that helped convince me to buy a book of an author I've never heard of before. So YAY!

I do hope HBO does a better job with Sookie than the Sci-Fi channle did with Harry Dresden.
I liked the show but they changed too many elements of the harry we all knew and loved from the books.

Charlaine is a wonderful woman, and has worked so hard. I'm so happy for all her well-deserved success!

A lot of us were nervous at first, but Alan Ball has such a wonderful track record with HBO and Charlaine said his vision of the series came very close to hers. She is really happy with what he's done so far. I can't wait to see it!

Debi,
I love that you have the inside scoop. Don't forget to post a reminder when it gets closer to the series premiere!

I may have to dump Showtime and Dexter and get HBO for True Blood. I really like Dexter though. It's been on Showtime for 2 season, it shouldn't last too much longer knowing them.

Vampy,
I killed Showtime after they killed Dead Like Me. It was the only show I liked on cable and I was so disappointed when it was gone. I bought both seasons on DVD and every once in a while, I have a Dead Like Me Marathon weekend.
My hubby wanted to dump HBO,but I told him that with True Blood coming up, it would be justifiable homicide.

I loved Dead Like Me. I re watched them with Netflix.
Another really great cable series was HBO's Rome. The DVDs have all kinds of pop up historical info available id it's enabled.
I was just wondering the other day about why I still have Showtime. It rarely had anything on that I like. Dexter was the only real attraction for me and they only do 12-13 episodes a season.
I do love the Southern Vampire Mysteries. It should be a lot of fun seeing all of those characters come to life.

Ah, mostly I don't care that I don't have tv, but reading things like this makes me wish I did. I love Sookie!

Well, one thing I gotta say about Sci-fi, they certainly do know how to pick up good shows once they've been dumped by their networks...they've shown Dead Like Me on a fairly regular basis over the last year and a half...not currently on that I'm aware of, but maybe they'll bring it back again when a new season of Eureka starts... Ah we totally need a movie/tv forum here

I thought Eureka was cancelled. It'll be good to see it return. I am really happy BSG is back. Sadly, this their last season.

Last I'd heard they were still planning a third season, but that was a while ago...might have been canceled in the meantime...would really be too bad, it's a fun and lighthearted show...not too many of those left on TV right now...
