Wow.. Like I said I only read the paperback book. There is a bit of difference.
But I still think that was the scene that changed the whole series. After than book and scene Anita changed and became more compliant to having sex with other people. Before it was only Richard and Jaun Claude. I just seems that after having sex with Micah she couldn't argue her point about not having sex with strangers.

That would drastically change the whole perception of Micah in all honesty...Like Mouse I only read the paperback version...Yes, by all deffinitions of the word the first one was rape...it's interesting how even the single line change of your first post changes the feel entirely... Personally, I think she didn't intend the scene to look like rape, just reluctance, and so when she read it through she didn't get the connotations...having read stuff for other authors (and had my own read) I know how easy it is for us to make assumptions, particularly about the motivations of our characters...what seems so obvious to us might not be to everyone... As for Micah, well, yes, he's perfect for her, but they've explained that much later in the series...(Incidentally, quite a lot of these should be in spoiler tags) They revealed recently that Anita's version of the Arduer works differently than the original version...Whenever she uses it on someone knew, she and that person are mutually changed to fit the needs of each other...Hense, Micah became the understanding, accepting, lover that none of the other men in her life were and Anita became his Pard's savior...

Ewww about what your spoiler text said. I think that was something she added as an afterthought to explain away Micah's easy fit. There was alot of fan backlash about him when he was introduced.
I think you're right that she probably intended it to look like reluctance not rape, otherwise, why change the content once readers perceived it as rape? It's still such a fine line though.

I know what the Arduer made Micah the perfect mate for Anita. Someone who is compliant and didn't complicate her life but still I don't like him.

Alot of people don't. You're not alone. Is she still with him?

Sadly yes. He does help in her a way with the leopards which takes a great deal of stress off her but he hasn't been a main part in the books in a while. Which I like.

He's spent most of his time working as part of the inter-racial council rather than helping her...I think there has been quite a bit of dislike for him...personally I don't dislike him...I'm mostly neutral honestly... Another Ardeur example... Another example is Nathaniel...He became Anita's perfect housewife while she gained some dominance traits to suit him...

I pity Nathaniel. I would've hoped he'd moved on and found someone of his own by now. *sigh* Does he still have the Lady Godiva locks? How effeminate can a man be?

I was hoping that the scissors on the cover of Blood Noir signified that Nathaniel got a haircut.

But good authors separate their real lives from the fiction they write, do they not? I like long hair on men, myself. But there's a limit. Nathaniel's was too long, last I read. I was hoping that the scissors on the cover of Blood Noir signified that Nathaniel got a haircut. Hee hee. Good one. He needs more than a haircut though.

Nathaniel is one of my favorite characters. I think the reason why I like him more than Micah is because it just didn't show up in Anita's life and in her bed right way. He fought and earned his spot.
I like Nathaniel's locks. They are beautiful. I have a thing for guys with long hair.
And yes authors should know how to separate their lives with their fictional life. Just because some of their life influences their writing doesn't make them a bad or good writer. I honestly think it makes their writing better and more relate able.

Well, the whole point of Nathaniel is that he's infinately more effeminate than Anita herself...
