I'm so surprised no one has put her up. I see posts referencing Anita Blake just thought it was odd there was no Laurell K Hamilton.
I love both her series Anita Blake and Merry Gentry. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have found Kim and then I wouldn't have found Vicki.

Well, I really like her writing, but I have to be honest, she's been in a rut the last half dozen novels or so...The last two Merry Gentry and quite a few Anita Blake have been getting to the point where they are little more than an excuse to write sex scenes...don't get me wrong, I love erotica (I've writen quite a bit for www.literotica.com/) but when you have plotlines as interesting as both series started out with I certainly start to get upset when an entire book takes place over the span of a couple hours because they're all too busy having sex to move the plot along... That being said, I certainly think her newest (Harlequin) actually showed a strong drive towards fixing the problem...With any luck she's found her plot again...

I get what you mean. I love both plot lines but I hated the fact that the some of the books were only a few days or hours apart plus the time line of the book was like a couple of hours to 1 or 2 days with the amount of pages written. Plus they were started to get confusing with all the characters she keeps adding that I'm starting be confused between them all. But that's enough negative comments. I think she's getting back on course with the next couple of books. She said she's thinning out the herd.

I haven't really read her books but I'm gettign into them right now. I keep hearing that they've gone south but I may just have to continue reading them since it seems that she's going back up hill.

I actually liked the Anita Blake books up until the last two or three. I agree they degenerated into an excuse for long erotic sex scenes with a plot thrown in. This somewhat caused me to stop reading them. I'll have to check out her latest from the library and see if I want to take up buying them again.

My wife love her writing, and owns everything from Blake and Gentry to date. i personally couldn't get into the Anita Blake books because of all the fluff. now that's not to say i don't know everything about the books lol my lady has to give me the play by play of everything that's going on when she's reading them *g*. I like the plot and Anita seems very interesting and if it weren't for all the fluff I'd more then likely have read all the books too.

If you scan over the fluff and sex they are pretty good book. Now that Anita has her.... *doesn't want to spoil anything* Now that she is getting her powers under control I think the plot will be better and less sex. And if anyone doesn't know yet. After the this book that is coming out with Jason the next one is going to be another trip and an Edward book. And if anyone knows about Edward there probably won't be as much sex as plot.

Understandable. You should at least give them a try.

I guess for me, it boils down to this: I loved Anita for what she was, tough, independent, and sure of herself. She didn't compromise her beliefs and she didn't take crap from anyone/anything PERIOD. If LKH wanted to explore a character that needed to have sex every 6 and 1/2 minutes, Merry Gentry was the perfect option. I understand in Merry's world there aren't all the taboos and inhibitions. Fair enough, logical part of the storyline, I got it. But to me, Anita just isn't Anita anymore and at this point there is no going back. Anita will never again be what I was attracted to in the first place.

I said the same thing the other day! I loved Anita's bold blunt attitude. I understand that she needed to compromise for the sake of her relationships. But in my opinion I think LKH had her compromise too much. Now she's not herself anymore. I just hope that with Edward in her life will her her change back some. Though I don't like the direction where Edward is going either. Too soft.

Great! I love Ed's character!!! I also love that she's humanizing him with the family

I love Edward too. But I don't like the humanizing part. He wa this big mystery. This big bad ass assassin. Who didn't give a shit about anyone. And now he has cannon fold.

I have to agree, but I still think it adds to him provided the book takes place away from TX...
