now do you have to have an actual kindle to get the freebies like that or can you just have some kind of e-reader on your computer to get it?

So it's seems like I've spent all day surfing Amazon. I'm amazed at the number of people giving books and authors 1 star reviews just because that particular title is not yet on Kindle or the cost of the Kindle version is more expensive. I know Vicki has fallen victim to this type of "reviewer", as well as Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris and others. So here's my question for our resident Kindle-ites. Are there public forums, tweets, blogs out there you guys could use to help spread the word? Somehow let the uninformed Kindle users know that there are better ways to express their displeasure over format or price, instead of screwing up the rankings of our favorite authors.

It just boils down to one simple thing, stupidity knows no bounds, Hopefully an informed reader will realize these idiots are doing that and ignore them. Those types of reviews can be marked as unhelpful and reported i think.

That's awful.
It brings down the author's rating. What fucktards. Don't they get it?
On a lighter note, Barnes & Noble's nook offers TONS of free e-books. You can browse by entering $0.00 in the search term when shopping, for example and it comes up with over 96,000 pages of free books, with 10 titles per page.
Here's the goodest part. Vicki's SCENT OF SHADOWS is currently on page 1. I have no idea why. They aren't in alphabetical order, obviously. And they aren't in order of price, being that they're ALL FREE. But I think it's great that when nook owners go to browse all the free titles available to them, Vicki's is one of the first that they'll see.
Get 'em hooked!
'Cuz I don't know about you guys, but I was hooked right away. I remember thinking I loved the attitude and action instantly. SCENT grabbed me, made me pay attention and never let go. I felt for the characters within the first few chapters, and mourned the loss of Olivia when it happened. In the FIRST BOOK. So I think it's a good bait to get people into the series. I hope she gets more readers because I think she's very underestimated and not nearly as recognized as she should be.

yep, there is nothing we can do really T - some people are just stupid, kindle users or not There are kindle boards and most there will admit to thinking its a stupid practice too. *shrug* Its part of the battle between pubs and ebooks and it isn't going away anytime soon. yep Raven, there are free ebooks EVERYWHERE. seriously you would never need to buy a book if you didnt want to if you had any type of ereader. A lot are crap, but there are gems out there too, especially around release time. Amazon now has their bestseller lists split... you can see bestselling books and along side it the top 100 free ebooks: www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/digital-text/

You all know how much I love my Kindle. What you don't know is how much I think the Kindle commercials suck. I really hate them. Stuoid song with some stop animation effects that says nothing about the Kindle's features.
Here is an example...

I consider myself Mr Average or slightly above and this ad campaign leaves me cold. It does nothing to make me want a Kindle. In fact, it does the opposite,
