Sounds to me like Vicki isn't the only evil one here. You all have some wicked ideas.

Well I guess we could keep Warren around IF he would finally get a life and understand that self sacrificing his whole being for the troupe is noble but making decisions for other people lives , isnt quite so noble . Zoe needs to straighten that man out pronto . I'd love to see her wearing the pants in THAT relationship ;D . Never going to see it but would love to see him FINALLY take some happiness for himself . Zoe deserves to be happy and damn him for not being man enough to have a REAL relationship with her and not hide it . Ok maybe taking a third of his soul would make him see things better .

We don't know that he hasn't had a third sucked away already. Just because Jo didn't recognize his picture on the wall, doesn't mean it wasn't there.

We don't know that he hasn't had a third sucked away already. Just because Jo didn't recognize his picture on the wall, doesn't mean it wasn't there. Jo said that the image on the wall when Jaden entered looked feminine and IIRC Jo realized later that Hunter used Regan's soul for 2 visits (his visit when Jo was there and when Jo was helping him back in) - I don't think he has lost any of his soul. I'm new so I don't know if this would be considered a spoiler or not so: IMO Hunter isn't in Midheaven to see Solange. What we know: In "Dead Matter" Solange stole the changling's aura from Jaden and disappeared. The changling died with Jaden in the penthouse. From "City of Souls" we know Hunter used Regan's soul twice to enter Midheaven. We know that when he entered using it the first time while Jo was there that a feminine image started to appear on the wall - IMO the start of Regan's image. We also know that the changeling's image was on the wall.
My theory is that Solange used the changling's soul to enter Midheaven (thus the changling's image on the wall and not Solange's) on the night she stole it from Jaden. We also know that she was pregnant at the time of her disappearance. I think Lola was born in Midheaven and is with Solange which is why Hunter/Jaden told Jo he was there for love. Not a love for Solange but his love for Lola who Jo described as being the one Hunter "loved and cherished above all others" in Scent of Shadows. I think Hunter and Jo will be together by the end of the series preferably with Lola (and maybe Ashlyn) with them.

Takers I agree with you and that is what I think also ...but ...knowing Solange in the short story Dark Matters and how manipulative she is with Hunter. I am going to question whether or not she really is (was) pregnant .
Also being in Midheaven time is totally different there and maybe if she is pregnant , she hasn't even had Lola yet . I mean that she could still be in her first trimester and wouldn't even be showing .
So I am assuming that IF Lola was born she was born in Midheaven . Since the changling's picture was on the wall she had to have gone directly there , at least within a certain timeframe not sure how long it's aura can hang around once the body is gone.
But I am taking what Solange told Hunter about being pregnant with a grain of salt. I think that is the only way she knew Hunter would ever have anything to do with her again.
She had some kind of plan when she got back together with Hunter and was planning on going to Midheaven all along the question is what is the power that she is spinning over there.

(Arrggh, I have now written this three times >.> haha) Hi everyone, I am new--as you probably already guessed, haha. In fact, I am so new that I started the first book (The Scent of Shadows) on Saturday afternoon, and I finished the fourth book (City of Souls) last night. I forwent any and all homework and studying to keep reading (being an English major it wasn't a hardship, but this close to finals it takes a lot to drag me away from school work. Bravo Ms. Pettersson, I love your work!). What a ride, the books were a rollercoaster of emotions--especially the last one, could you have delivered more of an evil cliff-hanger? Very good way of making me want more ^_~. Lke an addict, I am feeling withdrawal from my drug of choice; namely these books. Well, anyway... after just reading Dark Matters (quite an ominous title we got there, does it mean anything??) I now firmly believe that Hunter (JJ?) and Joanna belong together (aww, romance, hehe). There will be spoilers, and hopefully I can figure that tag thing before I come to that, but I want to reply to squeaker first. I do believe there is a Lola, this because after Joanna and him share the--please let me spell this right--Aereole, and Joanna see's him with a baby, I believe, and the love that Hunter felt for Lola. Although, I don't quite know how Hunter found Solange... could be emotions while having the baby, if she was still in Vegas, or he found Midheaven before, or maybe I have to re-read that part... maybe the author could clarify? -hopeful face- Well, you all might have discussed this before, I may just be dispelling some anxious energy for the next book, but I believe that in the end, if Joanna and Hunter are both still alive, they will end up together, mostly because of Dark Matters. Or maybe I am just really hopeful? haha. "You are attracted to things you fear, and desire to understand them. You have friends, you are well liked, but the one who will know you best is drawn in by your fallibility." Joanna knows him best, I don't think that it's told directly that she does in the novels, but I know that she says a few times that Hunter is the one that knows her best because of the sharing of souls, and considering it went both ways I do not think I am coming to an unfathomably conclusion. I believe that she is drawn by his fallibility, his errors, because she makes so many herself. I am just making assumptions about her personality, but it seems to me that she likes to know that she isn't the only one prone to errors, even if Hunter has been a superhero for much longer. "Saving all of mankind isn't enough to motivate you. It needs to be personal. You strip away a person's labels and see the individual. It's very admirable." Hunter see's Joanna for who she is, though I think I knew this in earlier books but it's said most readily in CoS when he mentions her beautiful soul, probably another reason why Joanna is drawn to him. "But you desire a deeper involvement. You want to feel more. People, their ability to choose--" I don't know what this references, but I think that Hunter wants a deeper involvement with Joanna, not just friends, not just partners, but, dare I say, soul mates. (I'm having so much fun here, hahah). I think the ability to choose may be referencing Joanna turning away from him for Ben... "This will allow you to see her. She is a mystery to you. A dark--" I don't have an analysis here, but I really wanted the Psychic to finish her thoughts!!! "You will know she is meant for you before she does." This is what made me realize that the psychic wasn't talking about Solange, she was talking about Joanna. I don't remember what book it was (I think the third when Hunter and Joanna had sex) but Hunter tells Joanna that she is his. "Mine." Maybe? It takes a little while for Joanna to realize her feelings for Hunter... (I was so happy in CoS ^_^ until the end, of course). "There is no later. Not for you. Not even for me. There is only now." -goes to check third book- Damn, can't find it. I know that someone mentions something like this, and I'm pretty sure it was Hunter or Joanna... I just can't remember. v.v Help? lol) Hunter thinks that the psychic is talking about Solange, because it actually is quite similar, and he is with her now... but in Dark Matters Hunter says that he doesn't know what any of what she said had to do with the Kairos, but she kept talking. And I am pretty certain now that it has everything to do with Joanna. PLEASE LET HIM COME BACK FROM MIDHEAVEN! Someone must take off the lock!!! Lot's of writing... I hope one day to write my own novels, and I am so glad I had someone recommend these books to me. They are so original... and I am sooo happy they are not based on vampires (haha, had to add that in there). Can't wait for the next one!! PS. sorry about my rant ;D

Ohh, I don't want Warren to die, not yet (he brings so many twists to the story!), but I think getting trapped in Midheaven might do the trick for me--at least for now!
Can't argue with that, I love me some True Blood!!

Welcome, aeroxforce. You seem to truly have your head planted in the Zodiac world, where it belongs! Love the ideas. It's obvious you're obsessed, like the rest of us, so you're obviously in the right place. ;D Yeah, Vicki's books are like crack. Can't get enough of them. I'm glad you were enlightened enough to read DARK MATTERS, because that clears up some of the cliff hangers from CITY OF SOULS, and eases the pain a bit. CHEAT THE GRAVE will blow us all away! I think expectations are highest for this book than any other in the series! I'm so glad the release date has been moved up.

You know what? I'm starting to think that way too.... especially because of the way she reacted when Cher and Jolivia were reading the comics, she wouldn't go near the shadow one... perhaps she might still get shocked, even with no powers? I thought her reasoning was weird (virgins read those or something?) made me think something may be up... I thought she was an agent or something... but this sounds better... I should go re-read as well!

I asked Vicki on the phone once, hoping she'd tell me. And she said that Zoe is... "Warren. You! Me. Everyone. Muahahahaaaa!"
(Or something evil like that. She refused to tell. (Evil author keeping secrets and all that.)
