It's about the same to me. Remember the scene where he is telling the guy, "Look. Look at what you did!" That was the worst one for me. It was in the book. Dexter tells the story just like in the series. Everything is from his point of view in books 1 and 2. Three is a bit different and it's why I didn't like it as much. Dexter really doesn't like blood so much so it could be worse. Part of his fascination with the "Ice Truck" killer was the fact there was no blood.[\spoiler]

Vic, Have you read the Dexter books? They are too funny in a morbid way. Which came first, the books or the series?

Umm is that like the chicken or the egg? Books were first. By the time the second book was done, Show time made a series out of it. Who knew a serial killer could be so funny. Dexter works for Miami Florida's forensic lab. He is a blood spatter technitioan. That's just his day job. He is also a serial killer who was raised by a cop. His foster father realized that Dexter had mum special needs. He made up the Harry Code. This Code is a set of rules that Dexter has to follow to engage in his darker hobby. Most serial killers have a theme. Dexter kills other serial killers or criminals that have basically gotten away with murder. Using the Code, he must be 100% sure they are guilty even after they have beaten the legal system. It's an excellent series of books. Darkly Dreaming Dexter is the first of the series. This is the link to Amazon. It will let you read a bit of Chapter one... www.amazon.com/Darkly-Dreaming-Dexter-Jeff-Lindsay/dp/0307277887/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208184556&sr=8-3

Vampy, Why am I both repelled and attracted by that description?

It's the nature of the books. It is dark humor at it's darkest. Dexter is a very likeable and funny guy unless you're on his hit list.

Hello everyone! My name is Josh and I found Vicki's books through Kim Harrison as well. I quickly fell in love with them and am anxiously waiting for the next! My main area of intrest in reading is the urban fantasy.. But there are fantasy and some sci-fi I read as well...I have been happily married for 2 years now and have three rotten, spoiled and good for nothing cats, who by the way I wouldn't trade for anything!!! Their names are Spasmo, Lil Bit, and Smokey. Also there is a stray cat that we feed when he comes around and his name is Oreo.

The "pics Post 'em if you got em" is good enough. Family, pets friends can all go there unless you want a separate thread.

Hello, my name is David G.
A friend of mine that had read Vicki's books told me about them. We both read Kim Harrison's books. I got to say that I have really enjoyed the first two books and can't wait for the 3rd book to come out, this summer. I really like the whole comic feel of the books. It is good to see a forum for such a talented author.
