I think Warren was too quick to toss Hunter to the bitches in Midheaven for him to actually care about him. MORESO, if he cared about Jo, he wouldn't have flat out called her a weapon and used her as one. Excellent analogy about the forest and the controlled burns though. I just find myself wanting to PEE on something when I read about Warren. he makes me so angry. i agree whole heartedly t hat warren is a dick, but if we step back a little, we begin to see that he is actually a utilitarian(i think that is the right word). he places the good of the many over that good ofthe select few, which is the mind set the makes all great heros and leaders great.

Hi all. New here. Just finished reading all the books and I must say I never thought I would like a superhero book, let alone 3.9 of them. (yes, I hate, hate, hated the last part of the last book to the point of having to really think twice about reading the next one ) Least Favorite: Warren. No doubt. He loves his little machine the Kairos, acknowledges she different and tries to train/teach her stuff the same way he does with everyone else. He appears to be blind to anything that is outside his direct focus, can't manage more than one situation at a time and (imo) is seriously losing the support of his troop. I think he is one huge negative for the Light side because it almost seems like he thinks he alone can think, suggest, or do what needs to be done. Plus, he is just a user. She should have shot him with her conduit at the end. Favorite: Other than Jolivia? Probably Chandra. Other than Jo (and maybe even more), this one character has grown the most, and turned out to be an uber ally when the time came. (sorry, I've always been a sucker for the people who show up and help the hero in the time of need - to me that's what makes a hero, getting people to do stuff they normally wouldn't). Down right love her now. I think I would like to have a favorite Shadow, but they sorta seem to keep dying...hehe I mean, I don't really like the Tulpa so much, so I need a bad guy (girl) to like. Joaquin filled the void, but..well. yeah. Bye Joaquin. And Regan was just too vile for me. lol

... but I can't believe you like Joaquin ... ugh he was vile... regan was just twisted... oh i miss her!! *sheds a tear* I probably would have liked Regan more if we found out why exactly she focused on Jo so much. We never did find out why, and even the rest of the Shadow's didn't know why. So, even though Regan was long story arc and really important....we dunno why. Joaquin on the other hand...we knew exactly why. And 'like' is a relative when it comes to the bad guys hehe PS: Is it just me, or does anyone else think the Shadows act more like a troop than the Light? Oh the irony.

I also would have liked to have known exactly why Regan latched onto Jo. I wouldn't be surprised (or disappointed) to see that storyline played out back to its origins at some point.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some big time history between the DuPree's and Zoe -- perhaps a variation on the theme of the sins of the mother visited upon the daughter?
So much of what is happening in Jo's world now was started before she was directly involved and if she's ever going to really claim her place in that world, then she has to get a grip on all that came before her.
After all, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
I don't think that Jo is doomed (at least I hope not).

Welcome, Lurker. Glad to see you're on board with this "Warren is a fucktard" thing. Your thoughts realy make sense. However, I think Regan just hated Jo because Jo had what Regan didn't. Love. Remember how PISSED that skank got when Jo fucked with her dad? Her mom's old house? It actually got to her. Perhaps it started off as Jo being the target because she was the Kairos- the big prize. And Regan learned from her mother how to insinuate yourself into someone's life and tear it to shreds. Well Jo won't take that shit lying down. She poked right back. Maybe you guys are looking for a deeper reason that just isn't there. Maybe it's just because she was a Shadow bitch with lofty aspirations.
As for the Shadows seeming like more of a troop than the Light-- it might be bease they're being ruled through fear of the Tulpa, where Warren gives the agents of Light some illusion of having more of a say in things. If you've read Dark Matter, you know what bullshittery this is.

Heck, you don't even need to have read Dark Matter, Ravie...the end of CoS shows that pretty plainly as well...

Yes, Warren is a fucktard, and hopefully he will go... out? Who would take his place? The obvious choice is stuck in, um...somewhere else. (wow, that could have gotten graphic! ) About Regan. Perhaps. I dunno. That level of hatred and focus doesn't generally happen because someone else has one thing don't. It is definitely more than "keeping up with the Jones's." Someone above mentioned it might have something to do with Zoe, which is my bet. I doubt it has anything to do with Jo and having love. As for Regan's dad, her reaction sort of surprised me, but Regan was already extremely fixated on Jo by that point. Like, one and half books worth of single minded bitterness. It wasn't going to take much to trigger more, just surprised that was what did it. I mean, according to 'daddy', she never never even bother to drop by the jail. Hell, he didn't even know what she looked like. whoa. wait. I sense an underpinning similarity between her situ and Jolivia's situ. As far as being ruled by fear...well, yeah. He is the devil. But, he seems to have a long term plan and a goal also. Something Warren most likely couldn't find if it was given to him as a trophy. I offer up the Kairos as an example. As for Unbound. Not going to happen. Too pissed off at the ending of the last book to begin to think about reading more. That only leaves Kim's do of the Hollows, and I heard rumor it was mostly Jenks....which is one of my least favorite characters. So, yeah. Prolly not.

Warren may be a fucktard, but he's a fucktard who has reasons for what he does. And, at this point, I'm not sure that there's anyone else left in the Zodiac of Light who Could serve as a Leader. Most of them are just as thoroughly entrenched in their own emotional baggage as Warren and Hunter Jacks.

Lurker, Miki's right. You've gotta read UNBOUND. It fixes things. It explains things. You will be less pissed off.

From what I unnerstann, the story in Unbound is a prequel. Plus already covered that Im just not that into Jenks. Anyway, that's not why I rage against the machine (rawr!). I don't how much I can splain my rage since I don't want to throw spoilers out, but I think it is pretty it's obvious for those who have read it. Not cool Miss Vick, not cool!
[pfft. Wow I was surfing the interwebz the other day, and damn there are a lot of Vicki haters out there. Seriously, wtf. I don't get it. I like the writing, I just hate how my hero{ine}s get jacked up. (Yar, I do sentences like math!) lol]
