I have played and beta tested a lot of MMOG's but never WoW.
The last one I played was Champions Online, Last beta was Star Trek Online.
I am hoping to get into the Knights of the Old Republic beta. It's a Star Wars MMOG and takes place around the Clone Wars time frame I think, or just before it.

Ooo, yes, I'm on the wait list for the OR beta too! WoW's my first MMOG (unless you count Second Life as a game, which I really don't), and I honestly thought I'd hate it. A friend convinced me to download it last year when I got my new gaming laptop. I have only been playing since last August, but I'm addicted! Have taken a short break from it for the last month or so, but I'm starting to get back in.
I love the storylines in the game. If not for the friends I play with, I'd probably be on a role-playing server LOL! I think I'm sort of weird as I tend to develop my character into a real "character" and have even tried my hand at some light fiction involving her, using the setting of WoW, but using it as a character development exercise for my writing:)

You wouldn't be the first person to use their adventures in a MMOG as a story source. I tend to play magic users and like to use my spells in weird ways, My first game was the original EverQuest. I played a human wizard named Dupont. Humans were not the best race for wizards but I didn't care about that. In the beginning, I didn't even dress him like a wizard. Once of my favorite spells was "See Invisible: The reason I liked it was because I could cast it on the NPC city guards. Dark elves would go invisible so they could take a shortcut through Freeport and not get attacked. Just imagine their surprise when they find out the guards can see them. I liked to do stuff like that.

Never played it...I have a fundimental problem with P2P games, so I've always favored the ones which make their money through optional purchases and the like...ironically, I tend to spend as much money on that a month as I would on a P2P...actually, no, my wife spends as much money on them as we both would

Yes, I was on a free game too...and was spending waaaaaaayyyyyyy more than I do on my monthly WoW subscription... LOL! Meh, I don't have much of a problem with it. Millions of players on their servers, and the number of updates they put out, adding more things to the game, my monthly sub is minimal.
I tried EQ a few months back, but I couldn't really get into it. I think I was just too used to WoW's playstyle. Heh, I normally play damage classes - my 80 is a hunter with a t-rex named Skittles for a combat pet LOL!
