Showgirl is fairly new in the writing arena. She's 0nly been out a little over 3 years, i think.

It was my HONOR to hang out with all of you, meet you in person, and finally get a chance to tell you all how much you mean to me. Readers are one thing ... Peeps are another. This does not mean that you're not all obnoxious, because you are. I totally blame Skitty. Seriously, I feel honored as well. I *love* my girls. Personally, I think Vicki is a genre pioneer because there really isn't anything else like what she doing out there and I think it has really strong cross-over appeal -- this series seems to be laying the foundation for a new genre subset entirely and it really deserves an extensive reading audience. Anyway, I added my 2-cents on Bitten By Books and I'll be back on the release day to support Cheat the Grave -- these books deserve our support, they're great. Nice title suggestions, Vampy. WELL SAID, monty! PERFECTION! And how awesome of you to spread the word! *gives candy* Guys, we should flood BBB with our Vicki love. She really is an innovator os goodness and if only these people would open a book and see for themselves. Can you imagine the light hitting their eyes and the choir of angels singing in their head when they finally GET IT? But it's more than just "Woo hoo Vicki rocks!" Like any review, tell them why. Bring them IN. Just like you were talking to a friend about why they should try this series. Explain a tiny bit of what it's about, and then why you love it so much. And don't forget about other review sites like Amazon and bn.com. Vicki will benfit from all those places as well. I strongly believe that it's just a matter of more people hearing about her, reading her to skyrocket her success!

Just to jump on the bandwagon to encourage support for authors, I recently learned how important the volume of reviews are to authors on Amazon.com.
The recommendation system on Amazon is triggered once a book receive 24 reviews -- then the book is cycled into the system's recommendation service which helps readers find books that might not have discovered otherwise.
Speaking for myself, I've actually found seven new-to-me-authors through Amazon recommendations and three of these were first time authors whom I probably wouldn't have uncovered for a while.
The recommendation system on Amazon does help authors find readers and because of this, I am starting to get in the habit of posting reviews.
Reader websites like Bitten By Books also really helps authors build their readership. Kitty is right, explaining why you liked the series is the best way to get new readers to try the books we love.
Richelle Mead's readership for her Succubus and Vampire Academy series grew exponentially based on support from readers on Bitten By Books -- we can help Vicki's Zodiac series do the same -- the readers on Bitten By Books are rabid in their support of the books that grab their attention. Let's help them notice Vicki's.

Okee dokey! I just ordered the print copy from B & N. That one is mine. Let me see how my budget is and I'll try to find it offline the week it releases to give it away on my blog. I read the ARC but I have to hold the print copy in my hands and smooch it-- I mean read it again. LOL

Ravie,
Honestly, as much as I adore the first three covers, I think they either repelled or scared off (or just didn't speak to) a lot of the romance/BBB audience. IOW, they can't tell there's some Ben/Hunter goodness in there that they might enjoy - nevermind the plotlines.
But, look, good books find audiences. And passionate readers, like you, are an authors best allies. The word will spread, maybe not as quickly as some, but if people like something they talk about it -- as mentioned, on BBB and Amazon*. So I'm just going to continue writing Jo's story, stay true to it, and trust the story to speak for itself.
But, yeah - good reviews don't hurt. ;-)
Vicki *An aside on the limited-time offer of SCENT on Kindle: It's amusing to see that every review posted there so far has enjoyed the book, but expressed surprise that it was well-written. I'm not taking it personally - people expect to get what they pay for - but it's definitely interesting in terms of how people perceive things based on cost.

I don't have the technology to make such awesomeness. I make Vicki t-shirts, stickers and buttons that I give out to people at signings. I talk strangers into buying and reading your masterpieces of fiction. Oh, and this board? Remember mah nagging....? Ravie SHOWING *true* love.

Okay, that was just odd. Funny, but odd. I think I'm going to have cupcake nightmares tonight. Oh no.
Why were people surprised? It makes me want to get you a t-shirt shirt that says "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful AND I can write." BAHAHAHAHAHaHa
