I signed up for Starz for this show -- I have an unhealthy but Airplane! approved affection for gladiator movies I agree with Vampyre, Spartacus: Blood and Sand is the program you'd get if HBO's Rome and the movie 300 had a baby. The first episode is the weakest in the series but it takes off from there and is completely over the top and I'm having fun watching it. All hail Crixus!

After I watched the first couple of epis, I wikied Spartacus. I was wondering how closely they are going to stick to the history. It's too early to tell so far. It seems they are picking and choosing the best parts from the varying accounts of his story.

I think you're right and that they're taking artistic license -- but they seem to be following the main established points such as his origins, who owned him and allies.
The series is doing well enough that they already started production on season two which I just learned today has been halted because Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and will begin treatment immediately.
The prognosis right now is that he will recover and I am sure we all hope for the best.
The show can wait, there are some things more important than the second season.
I am sure they will resume production when Whitfield is well enough. I know we all hope for a speedy recovery.

This show has addicted me and I'm not a huge Gladiator movie buff. I love the fact that I get to watch such wonderful drama unfold before my eyes whilst much of the cast is wearing next to nothing through the entire 50 minutes of each episode. Amazing! Despite all the nudity, sex and violence I have grown to care deeply about what happens to these characters. And I must say I have a new admiration for Lucy Lawless, she's doing vile, scheming bitch to perfection. If I had been on the receiving end of that kiss and declaration of friendship, I would've peed myself and ran away crying like a baby to the nearest boat to get as far away from her as possible.

Season 1 was bloody satisfying. I think I'm in love.

Did you see the season finale? Brutal and classic Rami over the top, I loved it. The only thing missing is Bruse Campbell.
Well, here's hoping Andy Whitfield has a quick and uneventful recovery from his treatment and that the show is back in production sometime soon.

Oh yes I watched the finale last week. Excellent and bloody with a wee bit of lovin' thrown in. I was happy that Spartacus paired with Mira for some love and tenderness, offset the harsh life they are living.

I am only half way through it. Sparty was just 'reunited' with his wife.

Wasn't that something Vampy? I'm trying to get my hubby into watching it with me again, but so far we are just way to busy lately!

Yep, I liked it. If he hasn't seen it, he should. It's pretty good. Also another reason to love Netflix!

I <3 Netflix just wish the streaming media was better quality, looks horrible on a 60" HDTV. But then I'd have to increase my broadband and spend more money! Decent trade off for now I guess and sticking with the computer for most viewing.

It all looks good to me on my 22 inch computer monitor with it set to HD. I sure hope they get to do another season. I really enjoyed the first one. Not sure what this says. I can't get there on my work puter. www.entertainmenttoday.net/content/view/955/45/
