Vampire Diaries vs. True Blood vs. TwilightI like that they mention the fact that Vampire Diaries came first, books-wise. Take that, Twunt-light. The Vampire Diairies facts are mixed with the books and movie. They refer to Elena as dark-haired, which she only is in the show. She's hella blonde in the books. But they mention the location as being "Fell's Church", which it only is in the books. The show switched it to "Mystic Falls". They also say Damon's not only a vampire, but also a shape-shifter. Uhh, no. In the books, vampires can turn into an animal, like in old vampire lore some can turn into bats. Very powerful ones can turn into more than one chosen form. Damon's chosen form is usually a crow. In the show, they haven't yet revealed whether or not the crow that hangs around is actually Damon. It seems not.

huh. I didn't know Damon could shift. I didn't read those books, and only recently got sucked into the tv show. Has he done it on the show? I haven't seen it. I don't know anything about twilight...and don't really care either lol I giggled at the nagging maenad comment. Im still debating if I want to see The Hollows as a movie/series or not. On one hand, it wold be great to get a weekly dose of Ivy and Rachel and on the other hand, it might turn into something like season2 of TB lol

If they did it rfairly well. I'd love it. It would most likely end up like thr Dresden Files, good but very disappointing.

^ I'm with Vampy. I mean they ruin pretty much every book they turn into a movie.

No, I don't think he's done it on the show. Actually, I think they've only shown Damon on screen with the crow, which would lead me to believe he CANNOT shift into the crow on the TV series. Which makes that comparison in that link false. Damon Salvatore is not a shapeshifter. He is a vampire. In the books, vampires can change form if powerful enough. Being a drinker of human blood, Damon can do this. He chooses to change into a crow. And, IIRC, later into a wolf. Just like some vamps in common vampire lore change into bats. Do we call them shapeshifters? Nooo...Stefan actually showcases this power as well, in later books, when he changes into a falcon. I believe Katherine turns into a white tiger. IN THE BOOKS. Not shapeshifters. A vampiric power.

Wolves and mist are other common alternate shapes in vampire mythology...
