well, I just wouldn't read the thread till I finished the book and would assume there would be spoilers if I did read it. Although, some people like to read spoilers before reading the book.

^I know! I hate spoilers. Drives me crazy. Okay, we need to get this thread back on track. Am I the only person that got a headache when reading about Jo in the labyrinth at the end of the book? All that bonking into invisible walls... For some reason, I feel the need to put this one in a hidey text... And were you at all disappointed that she didn't get to be the one to actually kill Jaoquin?

I didn't get a headache, but I kinda cringed whenever she bumped into one--I think my insides and my brain would be fried. And yes, that sucked on the spoiler. BIG TIME

No to the first and no to the spoiler. I felt justice was served and the it was better for Jo this way.

And probably better for Tekla as well, no?

No to the first and no to the spoiler. I felt justice was served and the it was better for Jo this way. I have to agree with you, cat. I think Jo would have regretted it later on.

I agree, Jo needed to let it slide or else she could have continued to slide in anger and hatred...kinda a dark side thing...Tekla's already somewhat insane and that fact can protect one from the darker aspects...

I kind of think it was better both ways. It's not that Jo didn't kill Jaoquin and Tekla did. I think how it went down was better. It wasn't that Tekla went out and just killed Jaoquin without anyone there. It was that both Jo and Tekla was there helping each other to over come their fear and and anger to take him down. Does it really matter who made the last wound? I don't think so.

Good point, mouse! Plus, I think it was good for Jo to push aside her need for revenge in order to do what was necessary to accomplish the mission.

It might not have necessarily been right and even though Tekla had justified reasons to do it, I think Jo would have had more closure if she'd have killed Joaquin herself. In the end, yeah, it didn't matter who did it, as long as he was dead (yes!), but personally for Jo, she'd have that closure for herself. Selfish? Yes. And maybe letting the dark side loose a bit, yeah but...it's not like she hadn't killed before. And he would have killed her if he had the chance. I totally would have went for the revenge thing. Tekla did.

It was so NOT self defense. But I'd go ape shit crazy and unleash all kinds of psycho killer if I was in Tekla's position.
