Today is the ninth anniversary of the day that changed so much in the USA and the world. Some call it our second "Pearl Harbor" or "America's Wake Up Call". I just call it tragic.
I remember turning on my TV that day shortly after the first tower was hit, thinking how horrible it was. I was wonder how something like this could be possible. Commercial jet liners just don't fly into tall buildings. Something must have been really wrong on that plane.
Then came the second one.
I realized then we were under attack and was wondering just how many planes were going to crash that day, 3, 5, 20? It was nearly too much to bear.
I remember the days after. It was so strange. There were no planes in the sky. I live close to the main route to Atlanta from Florida so on a clear day, vapor trails are always visible. On any given day there is usually 2 or 3 planes parsing by over head. It was so strange seeing nothing up there.
I'm at work now. The first thing I did when I got here was put our flag at half mast. As the day goes by, I'll think about what happened that day and how damned senseless it was. I'll think of all the people that died, in the towers, the planes Pentagon and the first responders that were killed trying to do a nearly impossible job.

I was at work...not really paying attention to the radio since I'd been there for three hours already...When we went on break at nine, people were talking about it, thought it was a mistake, or maybe a bad joke...when we realized it wasn't I called home to find out how my cousins who lived and worked there were, and my uncle who was set to fly home sometime that day from Boston was...
After a while Daisy finally managed to get the answer that everyone was fine...

That must have been a total relief. I'd hate to have to go through something like that.
