Hello everyone. I’m so glad to find this message board! I got the first book of the series via Kindle, and I got totally hooked about a quarter way into the book. I immediately purchased the subsequent books and finished the series in about three weeks. Now I have to wait for a year for the sixth book. Bummer.
I’m about to start re-read and I would love some help to fill in the blanks on some things that I’m still confused about. My questions are below:
1) Referring to “The Harvest”: Did Warren and the rest of the Lights not know that Zoe is the same person as Zoe Archer married to Xavier Archer who has two kids? Did Warren and the troop not know where Zoe has been for the last 16 years when she was Xavier? The story says the manuals depicted her story with the Tulpa and Xavier. So, how did Zoe keep the secret of her two girls from both Shadow and Light?
2) Why exactly did Zoe had to disappear completely, without contact, from Joanna and Olivia’s lives after she became mortal?
3) Why didn’t Zoe contact and warn Joanna about her impending metamorphosis at 25? If Zoe felt guilty about not preparing Joanna for her first metamorphosis at the onset of puberty, wouldn’t she try to prepare Joanna for her second?
4) Lastly, referring to the first three books, I can understand how the Shadows didn’t know of Joanna’s new cover identity as Olivia, but why did the Lights not suspect that Olivia is Joanna? Didn’t the newspapers depict that there was a struggle at Olivia’s place and that Joanna died saving Olivia’s life? So, if at the end of the first book the troop learned that the Olivia identity is only a cover, who else could she be but Joanna? Their mother was Zoe Archer after all.
Sorry if I’m totally off on some of my questions and understanding, but I would really love to get your feedback.
Thanks!

Probably the best thing to do is go to the forum area for each book--because then specifics are discussed on each one. That's what I did, and it answered a lot of questions:)

Did Warren and the troop not know where Zoe has been for the last 16 years when she was Xavier? The story says the manuals depicted her story with the Tulpa and Xavier. So, how did Zoe keep the secret of her two girls from both Shadow and Light? This question is confusing me. What are you saying? You said above that you read all the books. If so, you should know the answer to this. But I'll spell it out for you: She did maintain contact with her daughters, however incognito. She took on the alias of Suzanne, pretending to be Olivia's best friend's Cher's stepmother so she could be close to her girls without them knowing. For a few reasons. Presumably, to not draw attention from the Shadows, for one. A Light coming into metamorphosis puts out a distinct scent that draws Shadow agents. Zoe was always nearby, protecting her daughter, whether Joanna knew it or not. We are now learning this. But remember, Zoe has been a very busy woman. She was creating Skamar, as well as working with the grays, watching over Joanna's daughter Ashlyn and who knows what else. She has devoted her life to protecting her daughter(s) and bringing down the Tulpa. (And Xavier.) Remember, even Arun was created. Perhaps some of them did suspect it. Tekla knew, didn't she? Although there were times the Agents of Light were treated as Warren's puppets and sometimes looked the other way, they aren't completely stupid. I hope you found this helpful. Welcome to the board and the books! It's always nice to meet a new fan!

Thanks all. I should have also mentioned that I got the first book as a freebie from Kindle...so the promo worked in getting me interested in buying the rest of the books! Raven, thanks for taking the time to set me straight and answering my questions. Sorry if I rambled on with my first question. When I read The Harvest, I thought the story goes that Zoe kept the existence of her daughters a secret from everyone. Is that right? At that point in time was Warren also unaware of the existence of her daughters? I thought he would have at least known because he knew she was with Xavier all along...but maybe he didn't know that. I'm sure I'm just spinning myself in a circle here and missing something really obvious. Please be patient Regarding Zoe's disappearance, I guess in my mind I'm thinking that she could've at least told her daughters...at any point in their lives...that she was still around...somewhere. Why the total radio silence? But I guess that would have put Joanna and Olivia in danger if she did that. Even when I learned where Zoe has been doing all those year, I can't help but still feel sorry for Joanna for feeling the abandonment all those years. That final scene between Joanna and Zoe in Cheat was heartbreaking Anyyywayyy...I'll pay mor attention to the details on my second go round. I read the books so fast, that it looks like I'm missed a bunch of things.

Shuddup, Vampy. Nook did it too.
Yes, Aimser, pay close attention to details. I know how it feels to be so excited to want to tear through the books. I've done it! ;D But Vicki is a master at planting clues throughout the books. Things get revealed little by little in a very subtle manner, and sometimes you'll find yourself smacking your forehead for what you missed.

...or in my case, someone smacking if for you. My earlier comment was in response to, and was in honor of what Pam said in the last TB, "blah blah vampire emergency, blah blah blah". Our newbie also stated she was a Kindleteer, not a Nookster so in short,

Our newbie also stated she was a Kindleteer, not a Nookster so in short, I still have to watch the last TB. I've found the show is much better when we watch and chat as opposed to just watching. This is not a good sign!

^That's so true. When I re-read, I notice little hints that she placed in earlier books that I totally missed because they weren't evident until later, when things were revealed. I have a tendency now to suspect EVERYTHING is a clue, because she's clever like that.

So you're saying you're now paranoid, eh? Good. My work here is done. ^That's so true.
