DL, I was reading on the kindle right next to the iPad and the iPad user was jealous. Course, we were outside, and the iPad is like looking into glass outside. Personally, I'm probably going to wait for the iPad to work out the kinks and become a little more reasonably priced...either that of work on a next gen phone...I like the ability to write as well as read...

Yeah, I've heard that the inside/outside thing...but that's one of the bugs I'm waiting for them to work out...knowing Apple and the i technologies there's a bunch of others...

One plus I will give the iPad and other devices is they can download apps to read Kindle books and I am guessing they can also download apps for the other popular ereaders on the market. Yes Vicki, I do love being able to get virtually any book I want when ever I want it. I even bought the Sookie boxed set of the first 8 books. One feature I use a lot id look up. It's great having a built in dictionary.

BN e-reader app available too. That makes e-readers awesome galore. All the free books available- 950,000+, dude! But yeah, I've heard that complaint about the iPad. In reading articles and from real people. It's a glass, backlit screen. It's a multi-functional device, whereas Kindle and Nook are designed for reading.

The one thing iPad has that really looks awesomely cool is the night sky app. You hold it up and it shows what constellations that are behind it. Very cool.

I won't - I plan on doing both. But it was great when I got to the end of the HUNGER GAMES and could just dl the sequel in two minutes flat and keep reading. What a consumer based product! Welcome to my world Vicki!!! Now you understand. Just because you have a Kindle. it doesn't mean you have to stop buying paper books. It just gives you more choices. First of all, how COOL is it to have the Author of a great series respond personally?!?!(Sorry, I know that makes me sound like a total geek!! LOL) I loved the Hunger Games Trilogy!! I read the first to the week before Mockingjay came out and had Mockingjay read the day after it was released!!! I swore i was NEVER going to own an ereader, I like my actual books, thank you very much, til a friend of mine lent me hers to read a book we'd both been waiting on... after that I was hooked, I had to have one! I still appreciate book books, but my nook has really expanded my reading, for instance I'd've never read the Zodiac series... simply b/c I'd never have heard of it without the free book.... I'm really glad the publishers offered the free book, and gave me, and others, that wouldn't have otherwise a chance to get hooked on your series!! ;D Can't wait for the next one!!!

First of all, how COOL is it to have the Author of a great series respond personally?!?!(Sorry, I know that makes me sound like a total geek!! LOL) [/img] Welcome to our world. We're all book geeks here. After seeing all of the glowing reports about the Hunger Games, I tried the free sample on my Kindle. as soon as I can scrape up the cash, I'm buying the whole series! I I like paper books as much as I ever did but I prefer my Kindle. I like it because I can have mt books now, not 5 business days from now. There's no tax or shipping cost to pay either. The savings on shipping has already paid for my Kindle several times over. People say use the library but that involves driving 10 miles and ending up on a waiting list. Then you HAVE to give the book back. I don't like giving the books back. I have close to 300 books on my Kindle right now and it's not even close to being full. I have a 15GB SIMM card in it.. If you want free books, go to Feedbooks.com. The have thousands of public domain classics to download. The free books are the greatest thing ever. I have been hooked on at least a dozen new series because of the free books. More authors/publishers should do this. It's a proven sales technique. Look at drug dealers, they've been using it for centuries. Books are my drug of choice. They alter my mood, take me to strange exotic places and change my perception of time and space and they never show up on a drug screening.

The Hunger Games are Excellent!!! Well worth the money and the read!!!
I haven't gone to a library in forever, if I want to read a book, I'd either borrow it from a friend or go buy it, lol.... but the nook allows you to borrow from the library too, a lot of people set up out of state cards with the Philadelphia Library, I think, and were able to borrow ebooks from there, without having to leave home and have 2 weeks to read them. I haven't tried that, b/c I have hundreds of books on my nook!!
And LOL Good point about drug dealers!!! Some free books I haven't been overly impressed with, but the ones I have been, I couldn't wait to get the next books in the series!

I can't tell you how pleased I was that they gave out SoS for free this year. It was something I wanted for a year before that, so I'm lucky my publisher listened.
And I'm actually able to read more now that I'm Kindle-ing. I *love* being able to read samples too.
tnbsmommy - you're not a geek. I still get tongue-tied around my fave authors. ;-P

Tongue tied around the 2 authors I've met so far hasn't been a problem. I know this because they keep saying, "VAMPY! STFU!"

Sometimes, when my house gets too quiet, and the birds are quiet outside, and the wind has died down too, I think ...
"STFU, Vampy!!!"
