I just finished reading Hunter's personal story. Now I know why I was so enthralled with him before. It was a story that makes the rest of the series so much more full for me. I'll have to go and get the other anthologies. I'm so curious to read about the others' side stories. I believe I was attracted to him because he is the character I personally relate to the most. With the whole being good but loving the dark side. The story became really personal to me and I'm still crying from it. LOL. I'm a sucker!! Although I didn't accidentally set a child up for death, or punch out my leader, there was an event that broke me down almost the same way Hunter was broken. I swear I was seeing my situation all over again with the weeping and wanting to die, but not being granted that, to the giving up and simply accepting a man saying "You will do this - whatever I say - without question", essentially giving up who I was at the end. I know this post is kinda lame, but I just wanted to say that I really appreciated this one as it let me reflect on my own life situations and how I've grown from them. This is the awesome power of books and stories. I, too, was a Light deceived by a Shadow.

Your post isn't lame at all...it's cool that you can relate to the story. Vick sure knows how to dig into a person's gut and wrench, non? It's just a testament to her awesome writing skills that she brings that out of you and touch you so deeply.

Hugs to Jessica! The power of a good story is so amazing and Vicki's are the best. She's gotten me to cry too!

Oh yes, this story was amazing. I think it's the best anthology short of them all, for many reasons, but it came at the best possible time because it helped ease the pain of Hunter's fresh betrayal in CITY OF SOULS.
But I also highly recommend The Harvest in HOLIDAYS ARE HELL. Absolutely incredible. You get an inside look to Zoe and the Tulpa like never before.

Yeah I was trying to find Holidays are Hell in the store, but wasn't able to. Might have to order that through the internet.
