It could be that the Tulpa was just trying to distract troop 175... but as there have been previous problems with Shadow agents infiltrating the troop, a few names came up for me if it is true.
1. Hunter is a rather obvious choice at this point, having made his appearance in a shadow manual. Perhaps the Tulpa or another Shadow Agent made him a deal we didn't see before or after the fight with Shamar. This seems very likely given the description we saw in the Shadow manual. Perhaps he's also poised to become a double agent... if anyone could do it, he's the one.
2. Kimber. Her absence at the end of the book was rather conspicuous. I wonder if she was able to enter the Sanctuary after her transformation, or if she was just being petty. Odds are on for petty, but it might be she's been unwittingly feeding information to the Shadows. Or doing it purposefully to go after Jo.
3. The least person I would expect any treachery from right now is Warren. But his strange reversal to wipe out the Shadows completely is a 180 degree flip from his previous stance during most of his time with troop 175. I wonder if this is truly Warren we're dealing with.. he's gotten far more crafty and sly than he appeared during the first two books.
Any thoughts on who the spy may be?

Pyrelight...I hate to admit that I agree with you on all of your choices... However, I refuse to believe Hunter is a shadow, but it's a *choke* possibility....

He *could* be doing the role of a double agent. But the whole thing with being a male escort, the fact that he just showed up in a Shadow Manual, his attraction to working at Vahalla, and his seemingly endless attention to Jo's dark side do not bode well.

Yeah, it's not lookin' good for Hunter...but the mantra goes on...ohmmmmmm....Hunter is NOT a shadow! (i seriously hope Jo didn't push him over the edge though)

He might have to be at least part of a shadow agent, though, if he wants to continue feeding Warren information on their activities at Vahalla.
That's the trouble with double agents- some of them are so good at it, you never really know who it is they truly work for. And there's always the risk they'll ultimately decide which side is better than the other.
And I noticed neither of you mentioned anything about our other two possibilities. Or any others in the troop.

HUNTER IS NOT A SHADOW AGENT! Warren~...he's so obviously light that it makes him suspect, but I don't think so... Kimber~too obvious a choice.

I don't want to think about it I might just rather wait for the soul-twisting, sleep deprived day it will take me to get through the next book.

So maybe on Warren, and a definite no on Kimber. Anyone come to mind for this? I really don't think the Tulpa said it just to scare the troop- he rarely does anything without an agenda attached.

Kimber- i don't think she'll last long...she is a pretty obvious choice and she strikes me as someone the Tulpa would have no trouble manipulating... Warren- fanatic, manipulative SOB...he's hard to get a read on and hard to predict...
Is it June 17th yet?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? *cries*

No. And we hate waiting as much as you do. It's called Evil Author syndrome, and by March I'm going to be hurting something fierce for reading materials.

Okay, if I were going to set up a new mole in the light sanctuary, I'd make it the one person nobody would ever expect. At this point Vicki hasn't really given us much in the way of clues to this other than that cryptic aside from the tulpa. But I can make a strong case for Tekla as the mole.
Think about it, she's the seer... she rarely leaves the sanctuary, and she's the one who is constantly pushing around the most energy. It's quite possible that the tulpa can tap in to her powers, possibly without her even realizing it.
Kimber is way too easy, and considering the recent 180 between Chandra and JOlivia, Kimber seems most likely to fill Chandra's former role as antagonistic good guy.
Hunter is the even more obvious choice, especially since Vicki's been telegraphing this punch since book 1. Considering that she never goes for the obvious (and no good storyteller ever does), it's probably not him.
Warren is the one that worries me. His new reversal on his former mandate that balance must be kept is disturbingly out of character for him... but my money's still on Tekla.

I put my money on Gregor, rather than Tekla. I find people who drive cabs shifty! no just kidding but lets weigh it up - he can pass info unobtrusively to the dark side because he is driving all around picking up people all day.... its a great front, he actually is more mysterious than some of the other agents, he is extremely perceptive and observant and is trusted implicitly by all of the troop - the favourite uncle/mentor/wiseman syndrome.

Ooo, good theory...even though I like Gregor too.

Hmmmm Gregor huh? I hadn't even considered that. It would make a great blindside wouldn't it.
