Lack of plot (either story arch or individual), excessive sex, little character advancement. . . See? You didn't even have to ask! I stopped at Narcissus in Chains, I believe. And I hadn't really enjoyed them for a few books before that. I kept giving it another chance and another chance, hoping the next book would get back on track. But it didn't. I really liked Richard and his downfall sucked for me. But Anita becoming all powerful and having all this sex was just too ridiculous. It's been years since I've read LKH. What's sad is that I can't even read the early Anita books that I used to like because I have this foreshadowing of things to come... ick.

Well, personally I think she's starting to resurect the series from the slump it's been in...hopefully it's not just a lucky accident...So Deb, what was it about the most recent? I thought this was supposed to be another Ed book?

The last one I read was Micah. I don't even know how many I've missed at this point. I had pretty much given up hope, but have heard from several people there is light at the end of the porno tunnel I may start picking them up again in paperback.

I thought this was supposed to be another Ed book? This was supposed to be a JASON novella book (like the one she did for MICAH, an in-between book, if you will) but it ran too long and then got upped into the regular release time period. Unfortunately, it has jumped Jason into her already full line up of men to do on a regular basis because she had tied them to herself in some metaphysical manner. The last book(Harlequin) had Edward and gang in it. I haven't heard anything about the next one down the line. Maybe Ed and cronies will be back again in Obsidian Butterfly Revisited? Who knows? And I am beginning to wonder who cares?

there is light at the end of the porno tunnel There are so many crude things I could do with that line, Theresa. Especially when it comes to the Anita series.

*thwaps Mistress Raven for Thread-jacking* I'll be honest, at the moment I'm drawing a blank who Jason even is! Oh wait, is he the sidekick Werewolf? I'd like to see another extended leave working with Ed...and she stated in Harlequin that she's getting control over the powers, so it sounds like she's downplaying...

I thought this was supposed to be another Ed book? Edward, Peter, and Olaf did a brief cameo in Harlequin. But Laurell has made comments in her blog that the next book after this Jason book is suppose to be an Edward book. Anita is suppose to go back to New Mexico on another 'favor' for Edward and all the characters from O.B. are going to return. I know there has been a little too much sex in her books but I'm a loyal reader. Laurell K Hamilton got me through my senior year in high school. I can't just back out on her now just because a few slightly bad books. I'm going to keep with her as long as she doesn't pull an Anna Rice and turn religious.

OB was the last one that I really liked. It was very intense and quite scary with Olaf being almost as scary as the Quetzalcoatl guy. It might be a good thing to leave the AW'DO'HER (ardeur) behind for this next one...but I don't know how she would accomplish that. If it raises it's ugly head around OLAF, I'm outta there so fast and won't ever look back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She still hasn't gotten rid of that thing? Jeez! IMO, it's just an excuse for Anita to be a slut. She deserves to get shagged by Olaf. Ha ha ha ha!

No, she hasn't gotten rid of it...and at least the Anita series has that as a convinient plot device to explain sex overwhelming plot...Merry Gentry doesn't even have that!
