This is a real 'interview' type question so I will post it as such. ;D
Vicki, now with this third book about to hit the shelves, can you tell us how it feels? Are you excited, anxious? Do you worry about how it will be received? reviews etc?
OR is it 'business as usual' now with book three? Does it slip your mind? Has your perception of being a 'published author' changed now at book three versus book one?

Oh my gosh...old hat? No way! Remember, I work all year on this book, and after I hand it over, Harper works their magic. To see it all finally come together is surreal. It's a bit like standing backstage while a show is going on...you see all the nuts and bolts that keep the thing running, but the performance can still give you chills. It definitely doesn't slip my mind. I'll probably be stalking the bookstores and Target and WalMart come next Tuesday {g} and actually, the only real problem I have is the one I've had from the beginning: slowing down enough to enjoy a dream come true. Often I'm so focused on the next book that I'll forget how hard I've worked in the past. It's something I would chide a friend for, so as silly as it sounds, I'm going to try to be appreciative of that, and maybe give myself a brief pat on the back on Tuesday before going back to work.

Do you ever do any Ninja signings when out and a bout? Sign the book and put it back on the shelf for some unsuspecting buyer to find?

Brief pat on the back? Girl, take yourself out for icecream! Or better yet, hopefully your man will

Thanks for the insight VP. The theater analogy makes it very clear. Surreal must be the word for it.
I agree with DL. If you're not out at 'The Mill' that night you're working too hard. Take your own advice and wallow in it for the day.
I like the idea of randomly signing books around town, especially if you're not doing any 'official' signings. What a surprise for some lucky fan. Looking at your calendar, it doesn't seem you are doing any signings. Is that so?
And just to let you know, you are being carried at my local independent bookseller. I'll be picking it up there. Woo hoo!!!

Woo hoo!!! I'll definitely drop in to the area bookstores next week, but the formal events are at Thrillerfest and Comic-Con this summer. Speaking of indies, I called Mysterious Galaxy yesterday. I love that place.

If you attach the 'signed' sticker and sign some copies for a retailer, do they jack up the price even though you did it for free?

I agree and disagree. The seller shouldn't bump up the price but I know my signed copies are way special to me. The only signed books I have so far are Kim's but I aim to rectify that situation. Thanks to the Internet, I have become a book groupie..

I have a question..
I've heard that a lot of actors don't watch the final cut of their movies and some arthurs don't read the fully published books because they are afraid it will cause self doubt and be like 'I can't believe I wrote that crap.'.
Please don't tell me you do this!

Mouse, I don't do this. There are places I cringe, knowing I could do better now, but I did my level best at the time, gave it all that I had, and that's good enough for me. It brought me to where I am now, and I'm respectful of that. Mostly I don't re-read because that part of the story is told and I really want to see what happens next. So I write instead. Vic
