Wow.... I suddenly feel like I'm 2 with you guys talking about school. I was one of those kids who carried more books than I should be carrying. Honestly I think the schools are trying to make kids more prepared for adult hood and college than letting them be kids. I understand learning a foreign language at a young age because kids are more except-able to new languages then but I learned algebra in the 8th grade and now they are teaching it in the 5th grade and having high school student learning college classes. Kids are growing up way too fast for my tastes and they wonder why they talk back to teachers.
I was also a smartass in school. More of a bookworm than anything else. I would get all my work done to get an A on it then go straight to my book.
I completely understand you Vamp moving to new schools. I moved from Houston (big city) to new caney (redneck central) my freshmen year and I had to take junior and senior classes just so I was put somewhere.

*********HIJACK ALERT******(I GET CARRIED AWAY WITH hs MEMORIES)**************** One of the problems I had when I moved was the school's curriculum for graduation was totally different than my original school. I had American history in 10th grade. Even though I had it already, I had to take it again my junior year. I got the Yankee version and the REAL versions of the Civil War. Before I could take Algebra 2, I had to take Geometry. Now what in the hell has one got to do with the other? My brother almost got kicked out of one of his math classes because his teacher was teaching a long old complicated way of doing the problems. She didn't like the way he did it even though it was shorter easier and always came out right. It was her way or the highway. He eventually ended up finishing school in Kentucky. I thought i was gonna get in trouble my Junior year when my third period English teacher accused me of skipping her class the day before. I told her I broke my nose in second period P.E. and spent the rest of the day at the doctors in Birmingham. when she called me a liar in front of the whole class, i told her to march her fat@$$ down to the office and ask them. I told her I hated her class, the school, most of the people in it and the great state of Alabama in general. There was nothing I was going to do to jeopardize getting out of there one second longer than i could. I would never skip a class no matter how asinine it was. While she was gone my class mates asked me how I really felt. Eventually she came back and apologized for calling me a liar. I was flabbergasted. I just knew I had blown it. No one in class ever bothered me much after that. I really hate being called a liar or being accused of something I'd never do. My not skipping policy may have saved my life. My best friend was a misfit from a grade a head of me. He and a couple of girls were skipping and they wanted me to go. I didn't . They got into a bad accident. My friend almost lost his left arm and spent the rest of the school year in the hospital while they worked on reattaching his arm at the elbow. He ended up in repeating that year. The girls were ok..i think one got a broken nose. He was the same guy that broke my nose in PE. of course that's another story for another time.

Wow.. I had to take geometry before Algebra 2 too. It was the weirdest thing ever. And you know what else sucked! They put me in Calculus without me taking pre-cal. My teacher knew me from teaching me Algebra 2 wasn't going to say anything because he thought I would handle it. Then my councilor found out and put me back! I was so pissed.
I'm sorry about what happened to you vampy. That must have really sucked.

I moved during my junior year of high school from a Cleveland suburb to a Chicago suburb. I hated Chicago. And the curriculums didn't jive so I ended up repeating stuff I'd already taken. I went from a happy bank geek to a fish out of water in a snooty school so I graduated early, moved back to Cleveland, still here, never looked back.
Great banner, mouse!

I moved quite a few times when I was growing up too...being a fac-brat (child of professors) isn't nearly as bad as military brat but still not great for settling down...
