It was a fun episode (I personally liked the random dog attack), but I get kinda frustrated at those episodes...Groundhog Day has been WAY overdone in the Sci-fi medium...

I agree. When I realize ia show is going to be a ground hog show i just think oh no not again. If it's not done right it can go very badly.

I think they did a good job, but the simple mechanic sets it down a notch...even the SG-1 episode was fun, but not one of their best (despite being the fan favorite)...

I'm impressed with the season finale! The only problem I see happening is with Sam getting more powerful they might end up in the same downward spiral that too many of these kinds of shows fall into...they get more powerful to stop the big bad and then they have to face off against even bigger bads...Charmed and "The Source" anyone? I so did not expect Dean to end up in hell!

I hope they got renewed! That would be a bad way to end the series. I believe Dean was surprised to. Up until he ended up there, he thought he and Sam could beat the system. I expected Sam to pull some sort of exorcist bunny out of a hat or something.[\spoiler]

I'm still in denial. I hoping for a "Dallas - it was all a dream" twist.

nnonononononononononononoooooooo! Not the "It's only a dream." ending. That would suck.
I am sure they had a plan of some sort to solve the problem. They always have a plan.

Well, I don't think they'll do that, especially not after the Groundhog episode this season (too many resets kills a fan's devotion to a show)...And to be honest, Sam didn't actually exorcise Lillith, she fled rather than face him...Simply the fact that he was able to block her spell was enough to prove he could tap his power under the right circumstances...she didn't want to chance it...as Ruby said, she's afraid of what he's capable of...

Yep, thought it was cool she was so afraid of Sam she ran away. Poor Ruby, I kind of liked her. I stay away from entertainment 'news' as much as I can. It almost always gives away too much in the way of spoilers. I am guessing Dean will be back for the next season . if there is one, and Sammy will have a way to bring him back. Look at poor Buffy, she died about 3 times and they brought her back. They did the same with Spike, Darla and even Angle. Well Angle didn't die, he was just sent to a hell dimension. Dean will be back.

I agree, I think he will be...as for Ruby, well, with Lilith out of the body, it's possible for her to reinhabit it...

I think the body dies if no one repossesses it right away. If Ruby comes back, it may be another person playing her.

No, because there's often a human soul that's been surpressed and is freed in the process...also, they're demons, they should be able to possess a dead body

I thought the possessed person dies if the demon took control for too long. I guess Ruby could re-inhabit the dead body, but I think she'd have more fun taking over a fresh one.
The little girl was still alive when Lilith left her. I wonder what all the factors are that determine of the original person lives or dies once the daemon leaves?

It seems like I remember from a past episode that it depends on what the demon has done while in the body. It was mentioned that demons really don't care what happens to the human so they might commit acts that would put an undue strain on the body, resulting in death after they no longer control it. Or, at least, that's how I understood it.

Also demons can kill the body as they leave...usually they do, in spite, but she fled pretty quickly...Also sometimes the demon might commit crimes or whatnot and then leave the body so the person has to deal with the consequences...
