NH is trying to follow Wisconsin in getting rid of State Employee Unions...Except they're trying to do it as a rider on the budget rather than a legitimate House Bill... Amendment: at-will when contracts dieThe House Finance Committee last night approved a change to collective bargaining laws that would give public employers full authority to determine their employees' wages and benefits after a contract expires. The amendment to the House budget bill, introduced by Weare Republican Rep. Neal Kurk, states that after a contract expires, employees "shall become at-will employees whose salaries, benefits, and terms and conditions of employment shall be at the discretion of the employer." BOYCOTT DORCHESTER PUBLISHING by Brian Keene Starting in late 2009, Dorchester – Leisure began making late payments to some of their authors. Indeed, some authors report never having received payments at all, nor royalty statements verifying what, if any, monies were owed. This continued throughout much of 2010. In mid-2010, with these payment issues still unresolved, Dorchester announced that they were switching to an all-digital format. Then they announced that those digital books would be accompanied by trade paperbacks. Due to the ongoing payment issues, many professional writer’s organizations such as the SFWA and RWA placed Dorchester on probationary status. More at link...

Who are the greenest companies? No surprise that many of them are tech companies. I think we should do our best to support them as much as we can. I got curious when I saw a Sprint ad claiming the number 6 spot. Kindles use Sprint so I got it covered. Poor Smokey may be up for two world records, Loudest Purring Cat and Most Owners in her 9 lives.
