He's probably pulling a "Zoe." Infiltrating the Shadow side to gain an advantage. And yeah, I bet he would start to smell funky!

Well, I still have to disagree about knowing the woman...I've been with the same woman for 9 years now and I wouldn't be able to tell her from someone else...given the same basic physical attribute that is...And the fact that they've only done it 3 times, and one was their first actually hurts things...the first time is rarely like any other and generally neutral at best (even for guys)... Incidentally, I thought the discussion about bribing to keep Hunter light was fitting to the thread I hope he's pulling a Zoe...though even if he was turning he wouldn't nescessarily smell...after all, there are ways to mask your scent... Oh, and Jas is broken because she has some of Jo's essence mixed in with her...that's given her a measure of Jo's powers and immortality...She wants to keep the powers and not grow old/up...

Hi Tisa and Mousie, I finally have a chance to sit down and answer your questions from the other thread — all good ones. SPOILERS why is Joanne keeping her daughter a secret from the troops when she knows that the shadows know all about her? Doesn't the troops have both the means and motivation to protect her daughter? First, the Shadows don’t know all about Ashlyn. Nobody does. In HOLIDAYS ARE HELL Zoe caught the Shadows stealing newborn babies because she was at the hospital to make sure the baby went to the right family. As for telling the agents of Light, Jo is still a bit suspicious of Warren. She feels played by him and wants Ashlyn to have as normal a childhood as possible. With the girl’s second life cycle impending, she knows she’s going to have to tell her who she really is soon, but she wants to do it herself. She doesn’t want her to turn into a pawn. And two, why is she still using Olivia's identity after she's been outed? Wouldn't that mean she needs a new identity? She hasn’t been outed. Only the other agents of Light know who she is. Regan does too, but there’s no one she can tell. Her tongue has been ripped out and there’s a bounty on her head. And three, whats up with her and Hunter? Nice try, but you don’t really expect me to answer that, do you? Does Jewell have a conduit?Yes, Mouse, she has to in order to be a full-fledged star sign. I haven’t mentioned it yet in the text, though. One of those ‘need to know’ things that would otherwise only distract or feel like an info dump./spoiler] Clear as mud?

I just realized something. The manuals come out a WEEK after the event has taken place. I realized this while rereading through the book again when Warren told Jo she would be in deep trouble if he saw anything differently happen in the building (where she met the doupleganger) in the manuals next week.
So whatever happened with Hunter took place BEFORE they had sex. So I'm hoping the if Hunter was becoming all shadowy on us Jo would notice during their little night of passion.
But that also makes me wonder because of what he said about everyone getting what they desired if he was talking to Regan (the unknown unseen person in the shadow manual) about Jo and him getting what he desired and what she desired. because Regan didn't seem all surprised to see Jo and Hunter in that little picture. It was too casual like it was planned.

It's an interesting thought to be sure...but I can't see Hunter having anything to do with any shadow agent and I think Regan would just as soon kill an agent of Light before working w/one. But it IS an interesting thought.

But it IS an interesting thought. I'm thinking Regan is so conniving, to her- the ends justify the means. But I don't think she's working with Hunter. I think you guys are reading into it all too much.

Given that Jo complains that there's nothing about her in that one, we have to assume that the issue is indeed the correct one and that the scene took place after the battle...keep in mind the last few scenes start time jumping a bit...

But the events in the manuals are a WEEK LATE.

Chapter 30 (the one before the scene in the shop) mentions an ambiguous "...in the days after Skamar's nascence..." and then goes on to describe the "...next few months..." where the meteorologists come to Vegas...That shows that those scenes take place sufficiently after the battle to put Hunter's scene after it...
